I've just noticed this new charging on an upcoming flight and as a WP this change is pretty disappointing. Its made me look at the Virgin Platinum benefits which seem to be substantially better these days. I think if Virgin did a status match I'de switch.

I'm WP so I'm don't think it was a status thing. My child has the same surname and is 6 so had a booked seat. Flight turned out pretty bad as the entertainment system kept loosing sound on the first leg an the seat had a broken foot rest on the second leg.....

Just called and apparently airport control have moved us so we do still have seats together....

I'm flying to London on QF9 tonight with my young child in Premium economy and I've just noticed that qantas has removed our seat selection leaving us sitting at seperate ends of cabin. Has anyone else had issue with seat selections being removed from a booking a few hours out from the flight?

Re: No access to Cathay lounge in SF I'm also a Platinum customer and complained but got nowhere! The AF lounge is now completely full so anyone coming in late is struggling to find a seat. It's a poor situation. Tempted to take homemade's suggestion and just go to the gate.

Just to add to this I'm WP and traveling from Melbourne to London with my 6 year old who is Bronze and we can't get seats together. When I phoned Qantas I was told there was nothing they can do....
