Virgin Australia - Promo Codes (ongoing)

Just checked VA’s new Cairns Tokyo flights in August, used code ITX13, and came up with $2500 return in J. Add a Bonza flight from MCY to CNS, and darn site cheaper than out of BNE.

'The House' 3 hour limit [Now rescinded for VA PAX]

Brisbane International Airport is very pax friendly, so I would spend under 2 hours at the VA lounge, ( Air Kiwi that was. ) not rushing through chek in for the sake of lounge access.

SQ Premium Economy Food & Service

Travelled Sydney to Hong Kong via SIN return recently, all daylight flights in A380, seats were comfortable, food edible with a few selections, though admittedly we didn’t have breakfast. Overall was happy with the early bird pricing, and product. Will readily do it again in the future.

Dick Smith on Foreign Booking Sites

Watched Dick’s video, and thought the idea good, but still go direct for most of my bookings locally, but through web sites for overseas travel.

    Advice on whisky

The Japanese have come up in the world of Whisky, recently taking out some major awards. One of my favourites is single malt Miyagikyo from Nikki Whisky. Best part it can be bought at a supermarket in Japan, for a bit less than duty free, and if you keep the checkout docket, does not count...

I've felt the sting of the QFF Loyalty Middle Finger

My son had the same pleasant experience recently, he flys NRT/SYD/MCY return on a fairly regular basis, but due to work commitments was unable to travel for most of the last 12months. Back to bronze ? No, he retained silver without asking. Maybe they keep junior members happy to encourage their...

    Gold access with VS.

Just completed a DBX/LHR and return in P.E. Flying VS. Being VA Gold, asked for lounge access in Dubai, and received a resounding NO! After talking with their Lounge Manager, I was informed it was a shared lounge, and there were no reciprocal rightes for VA, fair enough. Then on return at...

    New standard carry-on size

My wheel on's are about right for length and breadth, but miss out on depth by 3 to 4 cm's. Must admit it can be difficult to stow bags overhead in Y, especially in the U.S. where most pax tend to carry on back-packs as well as wheelies. Cheers, Dee.

Qantas Club Dress Standards...Stubbies, singlet and thongs....What the???

I did note no nail polish, so presume the feet belong to a male, or maybe a clean skin female!!! Cheers, Dee.

Is quickest way to *A Gold with Aegean ?

They should have retained the base model, and followed QF's FF program, wouldn't take long to reach the 10 mill mark in members, probably to the anguish of the rest of Star Alliance, but to A3's financial win. Cheers, Dee.

Tiger exits MCY and ASP in July

I was a bit worried when TT re-launched their MCY services, thought VA may pull out and leave MCY as a LCC Port. But, low and behold, I retain the extra couple of inches for my poor old knees, as TT departs my neck of the woods. Cheers, Dee

The demise of the flying kangaroo?

Price on JAL was $2000 return, which for my body, was well worth the price.

The demise of the flying kangaroo?

Yes! the Red Roo could be sporting a multi color striped tail in the near future. Emirates would love to have a major domestic carrier in Aus, to control the Asia Pacific areas. Etihad already has VA capacity internally, K1W1 also has this same capacity---Maybe a new Compass Airline is needed...

The demise of the flying kangaroo?

Thanks drron, just semed strange to see them shut down at that time of night. As a point of interest, JAL P.E. pax receive invites to the Sakura Lounge in NRT, and the QF J lounge in SYD Cheers, Dee.

The demise of the flying kangaroo?

Flew home from NRT last week (on JAL in PE) and noticed three JQ-Japan craft shut down and sitting on hardpoints away from T-2, and only one nosed in at the Terminal; this was at 8.15 p.m. whilst taxiing. Not my idea of aircraft utilization at what appears to be one of their better franchises...

Is quickest way to *A Gold with Aegean ?

In 2005, A3 and LH formed a partnership to cover Greek airspace, prior to A3 joining *A a few years later. Aegean and Olympic merged their assets in 2010, and listed on the local Stock Exchange. During this decade they have achieved many awards from Skytrax and various European agency's. So...

Majority 'don't trust' female airline pilots

Hey Beach Babe, and all the other delightful ladies on this forum, get up Marcus and the boys who feel they can run these forums. But please count me out as I am still living in the past with 'wasp' motors, or the new fangled F-27 100 series turbo-props. I love hearing the deck crew talk to us...

Majority 'don't trust' female airline pilots

Interesting statement ! I recall back in the '80's when Air N.S.W. (part of the Ansett Group) flew into MCY in F-28 2000's, that one of the 1st Officer's was a female, Felicity Bush by name, and not just a good pilot, but fun to talk to whilst she did the ground checks. She stayed with the...
