Boston Trip via VA, Virgin America and Delta

Thanks all for your advice. Key responses so far: I had no lounge in LAX Virgin America impressive. The brand has mojo and why are they shutting it down? LinkedIn TV was cool, and I was in Economy. Virgin Australia flight Mel - LAX was too cold.

Boston Trip via VA, Virgin America and Delta

Great advice, and the Alaska Airlines lounge had no interest in me. They offerred US $45 for entrance.

Boston Trip via VA, Virgin America and Delta

I'm VA Platinum and flying return to Boston, ex Melb. I have some queries and hope to call-on the many wise heads in these forums. In LA, I'll board a Virgin America flight to Boston. Do I have lounge access in LAX? What are my upgrade options? From Boston to Syd I will fly Delta. Do I have...

Partner recognition as WP in Y

On both Etihad and Air NZ I have been personally approached and looked after by cabin staff. It's a little embarrassing on a packed flight but much appreciated. I'm WP VA.

Partner recognition as WP in Y

I was recently given a surprise upgrade to Business, at the gate, on an Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi to Kathmandu. "Because you are Platinum, Sir".

Why doesn't VA have an [Android] app?

Re: Why doesn't VA have an app? Here you go - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/virgin-australia/id1060472593?mt=8 I have been using it for ages, is a slick app. Enables you to check-in and sends your boarding pass straight to Wallet/Passbook.

Should I jump ship to Qantas?

I'm VA Plat, and have been treated particularly well in Etihad. The top lounge in Abu Dhabi is available to VA Plat, same in Melb. Both are awesome, with a la carte meals. On Singapore still only get the ordinary lounge. That sucks.

Most Obscure Commercial Airline That You have Flown

Monarch - I flew them out of London in the late 90s, back to Melbourne via somewhere in the middle east. They were dirt cheap, but it really was 'BYO sandwich'! They didn't even have a large screen for us all to watch some lame movie. You get what you pay for.

Velocity Platinum Bad deal KrisFlyer Gold lounge

Really? Having to leave the lounge to use a toilet? Sub-par.

    Etihad lost baggage process

We too just arrived in Melbourne, from Europe, only to find luggage didn't make it past Abu Dhabi. Was delivered to our home 6pm following day.

Flying Business Melbourne to Brussels, via Abu Dhabi

My wife, who is Velocity Red, has just purchased a Business class from Melbourne to Brussels, flying May 2016. What tips does she need to know? Good seats and any other advice would be welcome. Thanks!

    The Business

I had the pleasure of upgrading recently to The Business, Perth to Melbourne. What a lovely experience it was. The seating/bed is just so comfortable, the food was delicious and the whole experience was well worth the points for me.

Velocity Gold Lounge Access - Abu Dhabi Etihad

I was in the Al Reem lounge in August. It's ok, but not fantastic. They only have one or two Men's showers, so the friendly front desk called the other lounge and they enabled me to shower there. That lounge is much larger and nicer.

Not sure about that. I earned SCs on an internal flight a few months back.

    Book Singapore or Virgin?

Just note that this does NOT extend to VA codeshare flights. You must have booked the flight through Singapore Airlines.

Flying Air New Zealand as Velocity Gold

A colleague commented that when flying across the ditch as Velocity Gold or Platinum, AirNZ treat you even better than Virgin. Sure enough, on my return flight to Oz, Air NZ had frozen the middle seat next to me for extra space. I'm Velocity Gold. Was much appreciated!
