Got notified of the upgrade earlier today. $540 each for two passengers, both with no status. Thought it was strange that I hadn't heard anything given there are so many spare seats in Premium Economy (24 at last count).

Have read the terms and conditions closely and status is a factor Virgin take into consideration when weighing up a bid. I have also read that they do have seats unoccupied but reserved for elite status members which is annoying. Looks like the LAX to BNE flight will have no availability then.

Thank you for that. Just checked and the minimum bid is $400 but I am pretty comfortable with my current bid, seem to be enough seats available in PY for me to have a shot and like you said other people might not even bother bidding.

Unfortunately I am already booked to fly out on the 28th of November and fly back on the 19th of December. Managed to get the Y tickets for about $1,100 each so don't mind bidding for an upgrade, just not sure i have any chance being a Red member.

Pardon my ignorance but I have put in a bid for my flight from BNE to LAX and the return leg late in November and have just had a look on Expert Flyer to check seat availability on the return leg and it is only showing Premium Only seats as being available. I was wondering if that would mean...

A rebooking or change fee for a Qantas voucher.

It was BNE to MEL. My voucher was for $234. The balance payable was $216. And then they tried to charge me $308 x 2 for each passenger and another $40 x 2 in change fees and booking fees on top of that. Ridiculous. Apparently the fees are related to voucher bookings so be warned.

They apparently can't provide one until you request one on the customer feedback form which I did, the best they could do in the first instance was have a manager listen to the recording which apparently happened.
