The system will seat everyone in the same booking together. If on a 787, I'd say you'll get seated 3x2, most likely across the aisle from each other. Up to your family who sits where among those 5 seats. Jetstar won't randomly scatter all 5 of you across the cabin.

Same thing happened with MH flights recently. Qantas website won't show nonstop MH flights but would show up if bundled together with a connecting Qantas flight. The "glitch" lasted for several months until one day they fixed it.
