Platinum Card, what will I get for $900

The Virgin lounge is not actually a Delta lounge, just a lounge for which they offer access to their members; doesnt mean that there is indirect access via American Express

    Miles on Sale

You can pay the 10% separately for an infant. As far as taxes go on purchase, not much you can do about it though. USD1105 for 52k is not too shabby though Dave

    Miles logic?

If you had done the same itinerary in economy and also in business class, then it would not be the case though. Travelling on an itinerary in economy without status vs an itineray in business then again business will win It's not really anything illogical, just that the QF scheme doesnt award...

Good Bye to Hertz and Thrifty etc - Avis & Budget Only for QFF

I would expect that some would, but would doubt that most would

Good Bye to Hertz and Thrifty etc - Avis & Budget Only for QFF

I find it surprising that such trivial amounts of FF points would have any influence over peoples' choice of car rental company and I would be surprised if it bothered Hertz that much and , of course, it could well be that Hertz instigated the separation from QF rather than the other way round.

Airline charges for 'express' front-row seats

I believe that AA is not the 1st airline to introduce such a charge. iirc CO beat them to it

    Advice mixed class to Europe

EK are offering SIN-ZRH r.t for $4423 plus tax in business class and a $760 r/t fare in economy for MEL-SIN giving a fare of $5183 plus taxes ( note EK dont charge any fuel fines so taxes are reasonable )

Alternatives to AMEX Gold Business CHARGE Card

You can; exposure limits are based on account performance and can easily have a 60k purchase go through. Dave

Alternatives to AMEX Gold Business CHARGE Card

The features provided from a credit card from ANZ are different to those offered from the platinum charge card from AMEX, not least that the exposure limits on the charge card tends to be higher

Good Bye to Hertz and Thrifty etc - Avis & Budget Only for QFF

I think it is much higher than that. I think that 1 per $ is USA , but USA has much lower redemption rates. I think its about 10 per $ iirc

Alternatives to AMEX Gold Business CHARGE Card

You do realise that you can credit to, say AA, and use them for redemption on QF domestic with redemption cost of 10k economy and 17.5k business? I did an analysis recently for a friend and compared vs cost of purchasing AA points. Normally to purchase 40000 points costs USD1105 = AUD1230 ...

All 3 daily services to Melbourne are now 777s If travelling in 1st class, the MEL-KUL-DXB service is the only remaining service not to have suites but the previous flat bed option Currently, daily From MEL: the service via KUL has the old seats still , but the service via SIN and the...

Good Bye to Hertz and Thrifty etc - Avis & Budget Only for QFF

The $35.33 a day at weekends ($106 for 3 days) that I end up paying for a statesman is so exhorbitant. Even without the upgrade , $35.33 for a falcon xr6 is hardly exhorbitant. During week, the rates paid are pretty decent and that is without using any private discount codes

The great points transfer to AAdvantage

It is unlilkely that they will status match you, but since PVG-ORD will complete the challenge on its own (and gets the platinum bonus as well), wouldn't worry too much about a status match Dave

    Advice mixed class to Europe

As long as not on the A345 the seats to Australia in business are from services I have seen are generally the decent lay flat ones with horizontal offered ex Sydney on the 388 That EK provides decent 1 stop services across Europe is something I would class as a benefit rather than a drawback...

Not having a car, I don't have any auto club memberships though which kinda puts a limitation on that :) Dave

Good Bye to Hertz and Thrifty etc - Avis & Budget Only for QFF

Hertz may have decided that QF was not of great value and that the % of people who collect QF FF miles over ZE1 points low enough as not to matter Only impact I see is having to use a different CDP number to get a discount; the QFF 3% wasn't exactly that amazing
