Qantas removes Lounge Access for QP members on EK flights from Oct 1

Another little change - If you were Platinum or above and passing through Dubai, you could take two children (+ a guest, probably one's wife ... ;-)) into the Emirates First lounge. Now "all children counted towards guest numbers". That stinks ...as we will be traveling as a family through DXB...

    Pancake Machine

I had the wierdest experience at the pancake machine in VA lounge Cairns back in January. Lounge was almost empty, I put a couple of pancakes in, walked off to get a glass of orange juice, must have been away all of 15-20 seconds, and there was a well dressed lady there stood by the machine. I...

    Macquarie Visa Platinum - 40,000 points for $5000 spend - $99 1st Yr Fee

Got my points OK, but no lounge passes yet. I mailed them about it last week. They phoned up today (in response to my mail) to tell me they were "out of stock"!! "When will they be in stock?" I asked. "We don't know" was the reply..! Just silly! "Did we solve your issue for you today"...

Macquarie Visa Plat - Fee Free 1st yr + 25k Qantas Pts for $5000 spend

So I cancelled and then a couple of weeks later applied for the other offer (40K points + 2 passes - $99 fee). Have the 40K points already, just waiting for the passes.. Don't see how this makes good sense for Macquarie. I would have stayed with them and thought no more about it if they had...

DVT prevention and carriage of clexane needles in carry on luggage.

I had a DVT after a flight. There is risk in me flying, but my (various) doctors have recommended that to minimize this risk I should wear compression stockings, take aspirin, keep hydrated and stretch regularly (obviously) + pointy end or premium economy for more space and ability to change...

    Qantas Points Back promotion

Re: Reap the rewards & receive Qantas Points back on a Qantas International Classic A Think (hope) I got lucky too. Didn't know it was on, upgraded a (bought) PE flight to J a couple of weeks back with points and just got points added to account today. More than half the points of the upgrade...

Macquarie Visa Plat - Fee Free 1st yr + 25k Qantas Pts for $5000 spend

Told them I didn't want to pay any fee and would cancel if it was not waived.. went to discuss with someone and came back with half. I said no thanks...

Macquarie Visa Plat - Fee Free 1st yr + 25k Qantas Pts for $5000 spend

Closed account today (annual fee due next week). They offered half price fee but....there are better deals out there. Shame..I think the card actually looks quite nice..had got quite used to it!

    Anyone experience deep vein thrombosis?

So I don't think anyone's replied yet who has actually had a DVT? I have, about 4 years ago. I'm a fit guy (marathon runner) in mid 40's, so was a bit of a surprise after a relatively short flight (5hrs). Several months on anti-coagulants and it resolved fully, thankfully. Many people get their...

How much have you flown in 2013?

LOL... Just saw SBF's post.. and realized I'm (just) in there in the top 10 distance flown. Now that is REALLY scary... Hoping this year will be a little different...

    VA Status Match

I asked for a status match late last year but 'no'. I actually flew with VA first time in ages a couple of weeks ago (using up some Krisflyer points!). Booking was through SQ so was able to use the lounges in MEL & CNS (*A Gold). They were very accommodating and allowed wife and both the kids...

    Welcome to Hobart

Have had this happen to me twice coming into Melbourne. The second time, dog got very excited about the bag of the young lady in front of me and she got marched off to 'the room'. No issue with it, they're doing their job and I'm more than happy if they catch someone...I guess they only do it...

How much have you flown in 2013?

148K miles, 71 segments.... 29 airports, 17 countries, 16 carriers... 5.95x RTW....may make it 6x by end of next week. I've had enough.... [p.s....still can't make it into the Virgin lounge for my vacation in January...(Virgin is not one of those 16 carriers...thought the tickets were bought...

Finnair HKG-HEL J Seats. Any good?

Flown that route several times in last year or so, but last time was April. As rooflyer says, seats are not flat (or weren't back in April). I always slept well though.. probably more to do with flight times and bubbly ;-) Cabin was a little dated, service is good, food OK, Helsinki lounge is...

    Concorde

Never flew on it, but did have a walk through at an airshow many years ago. It was very small (as was I).
