BNE Airport tour (proposed when COVID allows) interest thread

Interested in the tour of BNE as well. Was in Longreach in Aug and did the VIP tour of the museum, our guide Tom turned out to be an old family friend of my wife's.

    Velocity points for recycling

Thought people might be interested in this (Mods, if it's been mentioned previously I'm happy for it to be deleted)... Seeing as there's now a recycling scheme for some types of containers in QLD, I decided to drop some off to the local collection point which I found out was run by Envirobank -...

    A milestone birthday OW award

Jumping on board this TR as Madame Deputy Principal, Ms 15yo and M-I-L are planning a trip to Japan next year instead of schoolies... You've never heard of juniper berries? They're one of the main flavourings of gin so some of that along with some other botanicals in some vodka with tonic would...

    Ask The Pilot

Sounds like what you read about the US Navy and Marine pilots doing on their floating airports... (minus the beer and a bit closer) Did you do that in your Skyhawk days?

QF WP’s do Disneyland (LA), Seattle and beyond

Glad to see you've been having a ball... did Disneyland in Feb '13 and took our 2 kids plus my wife's (then 16yo) neice as it was cheaper for all 5 to go in Feb than 4 in Jan. One of my favourite memories was getting a photo taken with Donald Duck - I had an 'original angry bird' hoodie on -...

Noise cancelling headphones for under $200?

Over the OP's price limit but I love my Sennheiser PXC550's - replaced my old QC15's that disappeared in T3 @ Changi ... Bluetooth wireless and ANC, very comfy to wear for extended periods as well as the BNE-MEL shuttle.

So I assume that it would mean in future that Class E planes could divert to OOL if there were issues at BNE?

Maybe that ancient Babylonian tablet that was found recently was actually an early attempt at a flight calculator :) (had lots of ratios to make trig easier)

Just a pity the A380 isn't equipped with Bistromathics (another Douglas Adams ref)... would make flying a whole lot quicker :p

QF Announcement at BNE airport today

Just caught up on this thread and thought why not BNE-YVR-JFK on the 789 with a potential option of a SYD-BNE hop on the outbound and reverse on the inbound? YVR would allow connections to other parts of CAN and north /west of the US without having to enjoy the LAX 'welcome to America'...
