Confused: Platinum One, Status Credits and Bonus

FYI I just noticed this on the bottom of the this page with a 31 Dec 2024 date:

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

Totally plausible — it all felt and looked the same to me as the old yield management process (getting a verbal "no" from the droid over the phone, asking for it to be forwarded, seeing the booking in MMB as "requested", getting an answer 24-48 hours later). Who knows what is really happening...

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

I'd imagine it's the latter (not necessarily breaking the rules, but perhaps being unaware of them). I've had other experiences this year that line up with that, including agents accidentally booking award tickets into revenue classes (which don't get ticketed of course, but you need to notice...

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

I've successfully used it twice this year already as a lowly WP. Droid said no, went to manual review, and got 2 F seats released on QF11. This was the first time I'd run into this restriction and didn't see anything covering the change in the last few pages. Apologies if this is old news to...

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

FWIW, I recently got off a call with an agent, who told me that they recently were told that Platinum members only get the droid requests going forward, and manual review is now limited for CL and P1 members (and also an edge case of "SSU Platinum Member", whatever that means, but I assume it's...

    Complimentary Seat Selection in Business?

Is the T-80 for the removal of all restrictions, or are there other earlier stages that open up more seats before T-80? I recently booked a reward flight for two family members using the WP perk of opening up a reward seat (QF8 DFW-SYD) and the seating options for Bronze Frequent Flyers aren't...

    F Lounge Access

Follow-up question: Does anyone happen to know whether oneworld J pax will be admitted to the QF F lounge in SYD or MEL? Understand it might be no based on capacity, but I can't find anything online other than the logical conclusion of CX says you can use the QF J lounge --> QF J lounge is the...

Travelling to Australia During COVID-19 (Discussion)

@yld200 Ah fantastic news! I must have been looking at 25 Feb for MEL. Phew! I also see a 90 min layover in EF as well (and well done on getting those tickets!) That said as @madrooster also points out, buyer beware for anyone buying SQ tickets UK-AU, to make sure choose a flight with the...

Travelling to Australia During COVID-19 (Discussion)

I really hope I'm wrong... but you may need to choose the SQ flights with the ~90 min layover travelling from UK --> AU on SQ (except for ADL, where it's longer). My understanding is that it has to be the SQ317 + SQ 217 service that has a ~90 min layover for the "same plane" service. For your...

Qantas reopens international bookings from July 2021 [now December]

@jinks485 thanks for the heads up! Would love to rebook some F reward seats now that bookings are open (even if they're cancelled again). I had 2x F SYD-DFW cancelled last year and was looking for that Qantas F experience for my siblings. Doesn't look like the 388s are anywhere obvious on the...

Car seats on QF: 2016 edition

As an update, looks like Qantas updated their public info around April 2016 and have a new dedicated page for car seats and child restrains: Car Seats and Child Restraint Systems | Qantas

Seeking WP/WP1 experiences on very empty QFi flights

Hello all, I'm flying on QF74 SFO-SYD this weekend and the flight is incredibly empty. The seat map looks like a deserted town and EF is showing J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9. It's likely due to the July 4 long weekend in America. Unfortunately I can't upgrade the ticket using...

Car seats on QF: 2016 edition

(For those following along and not familiar with carseats, ISOFIX is a way you can quickly "click" a carseat onto metal anchor points on the seat instead of looping and tightening a seatbelt). Unfortunately I haven't come across a plane with ISOFIX/LATCH anchor points (LATCH is what they call...

Car seats on QF: 2016 edition

I respectfully disagree. CASA[1] recommends them and the US FAA "strongly urges" you to use a car seat for your child[2]. Although the data has small sample sizes, research conducted by the FAA also says that using a car seat "could prevent 0.4 child air crash deaths per year"[3] but notes that...

Car seats on QF: 2016 edition

Totally agree - I probably should have mentioned all of these benefits as well! It's a familiar environment for the little one which makes for an easier trip for everyone... well, except for me lugging the car seat around the airport.

Car seats on QF: 2016 edition

My child sleeps very well in a car seat! As a lap child, we get zero sleep. In the car seat, my child sleeps seven hours straight (which means I get seven hours straight). That, and there are some safety benefits too.

Car seats on QF: 2016 edition

Dear AFFers, I’ve spent quite a bit of time flying with car seats on QF in the last year and thought it would be worthwhile to do a brain dump of what I’ve learned for the AFF community as the last thread was ~2007 and is closed. As always, this info is based on my experiences and shouldn’t be...

TBIT arrivals - Express or Kiosk?

Another pro-tip for LAX: Keep your orange "Express Connection" card for your next trip! I've had the same one that I've used about four times this year as there's a specially designated "Express Connection" line you can use for both immigration and customs (the customs Express Connection line...
