Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

Classic airline attitude - stuff the customer!

    JQ Fleet renewal

I've only ever flown JQ business class on the 787. You're right jpp42 - its in essence the same as premium-Y on most full service airlines In fact the J seats on the JQ 787-8 are pretty much identical to domestic J class on QF domestic (eg 737). As far as I'm aware (seat guru), JQ does not...

    JQ Fleet renewal

IF JQ drops the 787's (with their so-called J class) from the international routes, I will NEVER fly JQ again - EVER! The only reason I choose to fly JQ is the MEL-HKT-MEL route because its a direct flight and the offer something other than cattle (prod) class... I was forced to fly JQ Y...

Best Airbus A380 memories (so far)

On an EK flight to CDG via SIN in F (A380), we were the only people in F MEL-SIN - and the service was WOW! The F lounge in DXB is right up there as lounges go in my experience On the DBX-CDG leg (A380), after drinking most of the bottle Chateau Margaux 1998 served with dinner the sumptuous...

Trivago in trouble [fined $44.7m for misleading advertising]

The booking.com 'group' is based in Amsterdam (for billing purposes), and the 'commission' invoice comes from Amsterdam (no GST on their commission invoice to the property) The Expedia 'group' is based in Switzerland (for billing purposes) and the "commission' invoice comes from Switzerland (no...

Trivago in trouble [fined $44.7m for misleading advertising]

Use the sites to get an idea of what's available and pricing then go direct to the hotel web site (or call them). That said the larger hotels simply 'price-in' the booking com and expedia commissions in to their rates, and generally offer their base (read worst) rooms via these channels...

Dick Smith on Foreign Booking Sites

Bottom line is that these websites are (1) not paying GST in Australia, (2) charging commission on the gross amount including the GST portion (dodgy), (3) not paying any tax in Australia on their commission revenue - the commissions are going offshore. For larger hotels, they have the 12-15%...

    What the.................. [Comped WP!]

Congrats Ikara... Would seem well deserved to me with the membeship longevity! I've been QFF since 94, and for a lot of those years was WP. Retired a few years back also, and soft-landed to LTG as I qualified for WP in the previouls year before I retired making it a soft landing..:) With the...

SIN-BNE 744 replaced with A330 and sadly the old sloping J so called 'skybeds'

Well at least the Mark II is (almost) flat and (almost) horizontal - and it is possible to get some sleep on these with the 'mattress' enhancement, but I would agree with most comments above - its still a 'fail' in reality as compared to other offerings. The Mark I on the A330's is extremely...

SIN-BNE 744 replaced with A330 and sadly the old sloping J so called 'skybeds'

Thanks for spotting the error - fixed in the post! Heard about the refit of J on international A330 - if QF international still exists by then...!

SIN-BNE 744 replaced with A330 and sadly the old sloping J so called 'skybeds'

Well, I can honestly say that Skybed Mark I in the A330 from SIN-BNE last THU was utter CR@P, totally uncomfortable, and I didn't get any sleep! It was exactly as I remembered it in the old 747 fitout - CR@P and that's why I always flew BA J wherever possible. Sooner QF fixes the A330 J class...

SIN-BNE 744 replaced with A330 and sadly the old sloping J so called 'skybeds'

Thanks for the update John... Seems I missed the "starts in DECEMBER" bit of the ya de ya de yah spiel on the refit of the A330's to replace Skybed MK I  The "new J Suite" sounds as if its a step up and that would be a smart move to compete with other carriers on the QF A330 routes...

SIN-BNE 744 replaced with A330 and sadly the old sloping J so called 'skybeds'

Indeed - I've had similar experiences on AA in the past across the US out of LAX (connecting from QF) and as you say they just do it... :( That said, QF needs to know that they are pissing off their best customers (although I suspect a certain Irishman doesn't really care at all) At...

SIN-BNE 744 replaced with A330 and sadly the old sloping J so called 'skybeds'

QF advised (when I rang and coughed about the A330 J 'so called' Skybed MK I after the downgrade from 744 to A330 SIN BNE) that they are refitting the A300's by end DEC 2014 ya de ya de yah and it will be the same (or similar) to the A380 J product (albiet in a smaller cabin I guess)... Its...

SIN-BNE 744 replaced with A330 and sadly the old sloping J so called 'skybeds'

How clever is that decision (NOT)??? QF Y+ is possibly one of the best Y+ cabins around (seat, service, price etc), and when I'm paying for the seat its my usual choice - but not on QF to Asia it seems now... Yet another reason to seek alternative carriers on these A330...

    Heads up about program changes

Just found out that QF pulled the 744 MKII from the SIN-BNE overnight route (we're booked 01AUG14) - replacing it with A330 and so called SKYBED MKI in J... Not a happy camper at all... That said there a lot of very hosed off people who've booked and paid Y+ and are being downgraded to...

    Heads up about program changes

Wow - 1000+ posts in the space of 48 hours, and still running hot... Seems the QF FF gang have really hit a raw nerve here and no amount of spin doctoring will suppress the anger... While I haven't read all 1000+ posts, clearly a recurring theme seems to be that very loyal QF FF's...

Sensible conversation about QF FFP alternatives

I would agree... They may well tweak it after 6-9 months, but it would likely take at least 6 months for the fall-out to take some effect when current (significant) point-holders burn what they have and migrate to other options. In the meantime there will I predict be significant damage to...

    Heads up about program changes

YEP - agree, I've been burnt before with QF screwing around with the scheme over the years, so burned 1/2M points in OCT last year on SIN-LHR return in J (on EK metal - QF metal impossible to get onto even as WP), and MEL-SIN return in J (managed to get QF metal on that). Shall be reviewing my...
