Dilemma [ Boss or Colleague? (Can guest just 1)]

Lounge angel charm can work. QF15 last May. I have Gold entry and was in J anyway. Sister and her friend on same flight but Econ. I playfully asked if we could pretend one of the girls had my J boarding pass, and that I was in econ with the other and coming in on QP membershio with one guest...

SMS with offer of flight voucher to change flights

Fair point I guess. I suppose I assumed that Platinum were living Gods in a world above mine, and thus would never get bumped! he he.

SMS with offer of flight voucher to change flights

Better offer might be a pass to First Class lounge, at least as option. Got one some years ago after QF32. Eggs Benedict snd champagne with waiter service to table. Nice. I am Gold fly a lot of J, but not First or WP. so it was special. $70 flight voucher...meh.

Status run or take Qantas 80k offer?

They are so inconsistent. I was 120 sc short last year, but after 7 years of (earned) gold and half way to plat in some years (but never got close really), they comped me renewed Gold based on history. No points required. Guess it just depends on hiw valuable the lounge access is to you. Means...

    Dress standard in Business

Not really, just don’t do this, row 1 on AA about a year ago. I retched on my peanuts.

Time for the 747s to go

Thought about that, seriously after the putward leg, but have worked hard and paid much to maintain Gold for about 10 years. Can’t face the thought of starting from scratch.

Time for the 747s to go

So, LAX and back on QF15/16, a week apart. J class paid for with private dollars. Way over, selected seat 3E had non-functioning Entertainment system. Blank screen and no power to the remote. Apologised and moved me to 16J upstairs. No seat recline at all. Dead as a dofo. Had to settle for...

    What the.................. [Comped WP!]

Didn't know that, though sort of sudpected something like that informally as floated by a reply on other thread; explains it simply and good to know; tks.

    What the.................. [Comped WP!]

Put this on another thread but I will be short and it is relevant. Comped to Gold this year despite being well short of reqd credits. 7 years legit Gold and one year 1250 or so, within one confect d credits J flight of Plat if I had bothered. Your circs are different, bur think it is just...

QF to Europe returns to the Kangaroo Route (via SIN)

Yes, yes, yers!,I never abandoned the real Kangaroo route, but half credits on the Asia and Europe legs, going via Cathay mostly, was a pain in the a. Singapore hubs to anywhere in SE Asia, and I like my status credits, so will go back to QF metal, all else being equal. Told em it was stupid...

    QF not all bad

Yep. Average in 7 years is around 800 I think just doing rough in my head, and if we call current 17/18, "big" year was 15/16. Just got the envelope put on my desk, which I expected to be Silver (lifetime that anyway), and there it was, all shiny and Gold!

    QF not all bad

I have not been on for a while, and the forum may be full of similar experiences in other threads; too many to search. But given the amount of bagging QF sometimes gets, I thought it worth giving them a for renewing my Gold FF despite this year being well short of required credits. Have been...

I've felt the sting of the QFF Loyalty Middle Finger

Just to balance the stories of inflexibility, I was well over Gold retention (about 800 SC, needing 600) but, because it was all overseas travel with only 2 QF metal legs, I was 2 QF metal flights short. I was going to hop down to Sydney and back before the due date, but they rang me and said I...

The demise of the flying kangaroo?

From Asia to LHR is the short answer. As they did until recently. I was happy to structure a RTW trip specifically choosing Qantas for 3 of 4 long legs, taking BA across the Atlantic, and having options of 3 Asian cities served from Oz to anchor the second leg to Europe via LHR, depending on...

The demise of the flying kangaroo?

I just don't understand who Qantas is trying to attract internationally. They just don't fly anywhere anymore. I go round the world J class at least once and sometimes twice a year (well one year, but expect to do it again some time). RTW is not that much more than J return to LAX and almost the...

    Qantas Fleet

Picked it up twice (OJD, unless there were other 2 classes around, on the annual US ski trips in recent years. QF15/16,one out one back. Booked PE and sat in a J seat, with PE menu, no questions asked. No sign of any dissent or complaint from anyone downgraded. I assumed that J seat was just a...

Exclusive invitation [Premium Catering ex LAX]

A day or 2 before boarding QF16, Lax to Bne last week I got an email with an "exclusive invitation" to select my J class meal choices from an online menu. Heads up: it was just the main course and light snack choices from the on board menu, with I think one extra like a broccoli soup or...

    Lounge Access for Guests

Maybe I have been lucky, but last 2 years on way back from skiing through LAX, my buddy has been going direct to Bne on QF16, but I have been going via Syd so I can ride the A380 (in the PE exit row). He is not a member, but I have had no trouble getting us both in to the T4 lounge. QF12leaves...
