Point taken (excuse the pun). The comment wasn’t actually that relevant to the OPs query. Thx for pointing it out

    Playing the lottery...LAX-BNE, LAX-SYD or SFO-SYD...Best chance for Y to J?

Getting an upgrade to the US is just that, a lottery. Best to book direct on business via Fijian or China Airlines via Taipei. Both have a great J cabin. I just easily got J seats return to SFO and I’m a lowly bronze member. On the way back I had to stop the flight at Nadi. Will get a seperate...

    Spending airpoints from australia?

My 400 airnz airpoints expire next yr and I'm not travelling to NZ (but am flying to the US). Is there anyway I can spend these from Australia? It appears you cant, ie buying wine etc you have to be a nz resident, you cant book flights unless the flight or connection touches NZ etc. TIA

Long haul J flights from Sydney via anywhere to Chicago

Agreed. I’m actually going to go to New York for a few days pre mara. So a night in SFO, Jfk next day and New York for 5 days. Never been and can’t wait. So the flight is syd-nad-sfo-jfk. Maybe syd-Tokyo-jfk better but couldn’t find the seats and wasn’t overly thrilled on JAL business, although...

Long haul J flights from Sydney via anywhere to Chicago

I think Fijian a350>Jal 777 business and less time in the air (plus no availability on jal anyway). China airlines would be an awesome stopover in taipe but the number of points needed is a bit of a rort at 180k vs 120k on Fijiian.

Long haul J flights from Sydney via anywhere to Chicago

I wanted to update you guys on this one. I've split up the booking to just fly SYD to SFO via NAD. Really excited to nab J seats for only 100k points and $175. Looks like an awesome option compared to via Tokyo or Taipei which were the only other options i could see. Originally discounted...

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

So is there any theory on whether the above special numbers still work? I've tried and couldnt get through using them, so am trying the 131313 number but I think the priority is Israel support at the moment so have been on hold for 20 mins so far.

I have no issues with overnighting. Always love visiting another city. Free stopovers are the best.

Long haul J flights from Sydney via anywhere to Chicago

Thanks but I’m bronze. I’d say I have a better chance of getting Taylor Swift to ask me on a date then a seat from Syd to DFW on business.

Long haul J flights from Sydney via anywhere to Chicago

Thanks guys, you really delivered! Some helpful options for me to think about. Hong Kong, Tokyo and possibly Seoul seem to be the go for QFF redemptions if i cant land a direct flight to the US from Syd. JAL J doesnt look amazing compared to the middle astern carriers or QF but its an option...

Yeah fingers crossed it gets fixed for 1 May. Wife and i had covid 3 weeks ago, but kids avoided it. Really dont want to be stuck in hotel for the duration of our week stay in coughet, especially when 80% of the time the kids while off for a day or 2 max.

Qantas American Express Ultimate Card: 80000 Bonus Qantas Points

You wouldn't use an amex. The fee is 1.5% so offsets the benefit of the points gained, but it's only 0.4% to pay on visa or MasterCard. Ato accepts credit card pymts. Can even pay the company's tax bill via credit card! Well worth it.

Qantas American Express Ultimate Card: 80000 Bonus Qantas Points

Haha you're an inspiration. Seriously though how do you keep track of them all, knowing when to cancel before the annual fee, l how much to spend to get the points, logins etc! Might apply for another then. If you can get nine I can manage a few more.
