QF contact centre indicated no awards = no J. Nothing about capacity challenges to reaccommodate. Another day of travel doesn't appear to have been offered - just downgrade to economy. Just trying to stick to the specifics of the post not a condescending statement about needing to understand...

2 phone calls made and same cough service/knowledge on QF part. Quite unacceptable, but unfortunately not surprising. The contact centre wait time has been "fixed" but the downside is the quality of assistance that answers the call more quickly.

Thats rubbish - they should reaccommodate you in J, regardless of award availability. Looks like there is J to LAX via MEL tomorrow, and via SYD on Friday, being sold currently. I'd insist they provide a suitable J option due to the involuntary cancellation imposed on you for your original...

There's still plenty of 4 x PE/Y+ availability through the month of November this year, for SYD-LAX, from the recent award dump. I don't think you should focus on the 353 day release cycle, thats been dead in the water for a while now. But be ready for an award dump, like what recently happened...

The only flights I have taken this membership year are Classic Awards (as Points Club member). I have been credited with the 4 x eligible QF flights and also moved from Bronze to the lofty heights of Silver, through Classic Award activity only.

Having done QF11/12 in F in Nov, and J in March, I'd say do it for sure. Massive difference in bed/comfort....maybe I'm just getting old haha, was difficult back in J. Not too much difference in catering, but the space and comfort are well worth it, in my opinion... And the Lounge is a bonus...
