Thanks both. Will be having a few conversations with family back in the mother country tonight to what dates I'd need to be there if I was going and work from there.
Thanks for the suggestion JessicaTam. It is indeed bad news about a family member. Once I have an idea of dates, will see if a...
Hi all,
Thanks to getting some bad news, I may be flying MEL-LON in a few days time and returning some time in early Jan (would need to be back by 04/01). Possibly not the best time to be flying without much notice, but such is life.
I'm aware the prices are likely to be through the roof this...
Not when the ADL QP baby change facility is being cleaned, in which case your options are changing in public or being let into the CL next door for said changing activities. We took the latter option - no 6 month ban for us! :)

An alternative conspiracy theory is that they had an offer for the points before the auction ended and took it.
TBH, I can't see why (commercially) Qantas would have a problem with the whole idea. Outstanding points are a liability for QFF. If they're traded and used - less liability for QFF...
Well, I made it to Dublin in one piece although I probably didn't smell particularly nice when I got here as there wasn't time for a shower in SIN between QF9 and BA12 and the UK & Ireland lounge in LHR T1 doesn't have showers. The do however have oneworld emerald and sapphire lozenges on the...
I'm not planning to stay airside. After 13 hours of being cooped up from SIN, I'll want to stretch my legs.
Fortunately, I have UK and Australian passports, so if the non-EU is full or going slow, I'll just jump across to the EU queue.

I did think of that, but they don't open up shop until 0630, so I wouldn't have time to get across to T1 for my onward flight to DUB. Looks like I'll be asking the DUB hotel nicely if I can check in early or at least have a shower in their gym.
Since posting I've found out that the UK/Ireland...
I'm heading over to Dublin in mid-october (arriving on BA12 at 0500 then BA-something from T1 at 0700).
Is there anywhere in T1 to get a shower so that I can freshen up before spending the day in Dublin?
I've got priority pass as well as being QF SG. I looked into the AC arrivals lounge at T3...
Used my plat card with no problems in MEL this morning. No swiping of card or boarding pass, but the name on the card was checked against my boarding pass.
Flying DJ just got a lot more bearable :)

Re: Amex Platinum Charge card - success / failure at getting reduction in $900 annual
I had the annual fee waived (in two halves) last year. The first half was when I complained about the number of merchant surcharging for Amex, the second was when I called to ask what they would do to retain...
Yep, it's the untrusting insurance company. TBH they can have the phone, it's dead to me and doesn't work nearly as nicely as the iphone 4S they've just paid out for.
To their credit, they gave me an office address here in ADL to send the phone to. I'll drop it in at some point in the...
People want to defraud insurance companies? Surely not! </sarcasm>
I guess it makes a change from insurance companies defrauding policy holders...
I could offer to take a photo of the old phone with my new one, but I guess they're not that trusting.
Cheers

Thanks to the forthcoming changes to the plat charge card travel insurance policy I've decided to make as much use as I can of it over the next few months and put in a claim wherever possible while excesses are still non-existent.
Most recent success has been claiming for an iphone that fell...
