Melbourne VA Lounge becoming airside from August 2022

Through MEL on Sunday at 4:45pm - no priority lane open, 7/8 scanners operating, long queues however moved reasonably quickly. Security let a few running late for a flight through and you can tune out the ‘put jackets under bags’ after hearing it non stop for 10min. Won the 50/50 post screening...

    APEC Business Travel Card

Can confirm - tried using APEC in the crew lane (preCovid) out of Dublin heading to the east coast and the US officials knew nothing about it. Just had to smile and join the queue along with everyone else

    What's your Uber experience?

I’ve gone off uber for getting to the airport in Melbourne. Nothing worse than having a booking only to see the driver travel away from you and then reject the booking 🤬

China Eastern Lounge Access and Priority Check-in - China Domestic

Just back from China. Flying MU international and domestic as QF Plat. Was turned away twice from the MU dom lounge at PVG - being sent once to a lounge at Gate 9 and then another in terminal 2. Third time had the website open on my phone, showed the staff member and stood my ground. Once...

    Status match for Aussies

    - Trip completed. Secured both short haul upgrades and enjoyed the service and product on their 777. My oneup upgrade AKL-SFO was accepted the day of the flight. The quirks on the flight (whimsical toilet decorations / airbird eyemask / striped socks) are so very Kiwi. My oneup SFO-AKL wasn't...

    Lounge Access Help Desk

San Francisco - shower query. Hi all. Flying into SFO on AirNZ later this month, connecting to a United domestic flight - approx a 2hr 20min layover. My reading is that the United (Polaris) International Arrival Lounge is only for United passengers - so even if I'm J ANZ that won't get me in...

    Status match for Aussies

LTG and currently QFP. Applied and came through after ~3 days. Already booked MEL-AKL-SFO-LAS return with AirNZ which should see me get pretty close to the 450 to get full gold and used the short haul upgrades on the MEL-AKL / AKL-MEL leg + leverage the 30% upweight to bid for upgrades on the...

    AA critique

Had the completely opposite experience with AA (Dom Y) recently - SFO to RIC in Dec and JFK to LAX in Jan. Having warned the family of the potential horrors that awaited them flying in the US, we had what felt like two of my best US flying experiences ever (and I usually fly F for business and...

Lounge Access as QF Plat with Children

Just back from the US and did two domestic AA flights (SFO and JFK departures) flying in Y with spouse and two kids (11&12). I am QF WP (the others no status) and aware of AA lounge rules (1 guest). Both times I approached the Admirals counter with a smile and asked if it wasn't too crowded if...

Admirals Club/ Flagship lounge at JFK reopening date

Agree with Danger, the current Flagship Lounge in JFK Concourse B is brilliant. They are still doing some work in the dining area, however you can hardly fault them for that. A mile better than the LAX Flagship lounge.

LAX T4 to TBIT transfer options (update)

Update on how it went. Delayed departure meant I was 30min late into LAX Terminal 4. There was a host with my onward ticket and express pass. Didn't require either however good to know they were aware I needed to make the connection. Another 6 people joined me on the short walk to Gate 44 to the...

    Electronic arrivals at LAX

Used the machine arriving into LAX last week - remembered to keep the fingers together - no problems, no queues and landside in ~10minutes. Very happy!

LAX T4 to TBIT transfer options (update)

Thanks all. Its an 20:40 arrival, I'm in first and carryon only - I'll be hoping for an ontime arrival and speedy deplaning to make the shuttle.

LAX T4 to TBIT transfer options (update)

Morning all. Had a browse to see what advice people had on transfering from a domestic AA flight to a QF departure (LAX). Wondering if anyone had an update on either their experience using the AA airside shuttle between T4 and TBIT, or whether taking the landside route on foot was still the most...

What is the best luggage for someone who travels overseas a lot?

Hi Womble99. I'm not a retiree, however I travel a bit and a Crumper fan. I have the Dry Red 4 as check in if needed, otherwise use the Spring Peeper Carry On. If you are travelling where you think they'll be stairs or tiny lifts, then stick to a carry on size bag. As mentioned above, they are...
