Moving country, looking for advice on which FF program to consider

One thing I forgot, does family pooling make much of a difference? I (possibly foolishly) assume that all programs allow for family pooling?

Moving country, looking for advice on which FF program to consider

Not big on hockey, but give me some skis and a mountain bike and I'm a happy man! This is definitely a long term plan so I'm hoping I can stick with the program that I can join. Avianca sounds good in theory but I'm not sure how often I will actually fly with them around the region. It's...

Moving country, looking for advice on which FF program to consider

Probably not, I'm not much of a spender and have found it very challenging to get a CC worth using in Canada as I'm not a permanent resident. I'll have an Aussie CC (current for Velocity) but it won't get used for all but a month or so each year.

Moving country, looking for advice on which FF program to consider

Thanks for the help so far, very helpful! That remains to be seen. It's 50/50 between Panama and Canada, really comes down to how much time I spend in both. Does it affect my strategy?

Moving country, looking for advice on which FF program to consider

Been with Velocity for about 4 years now. I have around 120,000 VFF points in the bank. Dropped back to Silver this year unfortunately as my life has changed significantly. In future, I am mostly going to be flying with around the following locations: Vancouver, Canada Taipei City, Taipei Hong...

    AirNZ/Velocity Status

Unfortunately, 3 bags. Back in the day it would have been 2x32kg bags but since there is no sporting goods extra allowance nowadays it ends up being 3x23kg.

    AirNZ/Velocity Status

I'm flying with AirNZ in a few days and my Velocity status is currently under review. I will be dropping down to Silver (this flight will send me back up to Gold), but I'm not sure when it will actually kick back down to Silver (if at all). My question is, do Air New Zealand have a way of...

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

According to their Twitter rep "You need to have earned 400 Status Credits before your review date to maintain (status)". So basically anything earned in the grace period just goes towards the next year. Damn, looks like I've missed out on renewing for this year! According to this page...

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Thanks. Do you know how strict Velocity are with the dates? I just found a deal departing on the 13th but it is 1 day after my review period expires.

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Currently in status grace period. Review date was June 12th. Is the one month period a fixed period? I need 50SC to renew and I am about to book ADL>AKL>YVR (20SC + 40SC) however departure is on the 11th. In the past, AirNZ take a few days to post the SC's.. Would this be too late or is there...

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Thanks, Do you know if rewards flights accrue status credits? As I understand it, using points to upgrade to business doesn't get me status..?

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Does anyone have a bit of a guide on how to get good value for SC? I am in ADL and need to get 50 SC before July 12. Does anyone have any tips?

ADL to YVR with Velocity Points

Hmm apparently not. As it is booked with AirNZ direct (flights weren't available through Virgin) they claim there are no benefits.

ADL to YVR with Velocity Points

Thanks mate, I will get onto the phone for them. Always best to educate yourself before the phone call though. :)

ADL to YVR with Velocity Points

Tremendous thread dig, I know, but I just booked our flights. ADL>AUK>YVR return. A range of different classes - funds are tight so we had to go with the cheapest of everything. I believe the following is correct: ADL>AUK - Class M - 20 Points AUK>YVR - Class W - 40 Points YVR>AUK - Class K...

ADL to YVR with Velocity Points

Actually I've just seen some decent deals on Air China. I don't have any experience with them but Virgin seem to Codeshare with them. If I book with Air China directly however, would I receive any status credits/Velocity points?

ADL to YVR with Velocity Points

Again, I've failed to be specific enough. What I meant to say was that we have entered the USA by car, and customs were less than friendly. Doing that trip, they don't even care about the cleanliness of bikes and they were still rude. I imagine flying in from another country where they ARE...

ADL to YVR with Velocity Points

Not your fault at all, as soon as I started reading the replies I realised how misleading the subject was! Ok this is great news. I'm pretty sure AirNZ is the way to go for this trip. We are intending on relocating to British Columbia for good (all going well) so we may well need to do some...
