    AMEX not accepted or surcharge

Totally agree. You don't get charged a fee for paying by cash or cheque yet the staff costs of processing these are quite high. I recently decided to sign up a business to use MYOB M-Powered Invoices. Credit payments attract a fee and there's an MYOB fee too. But staff don't have to take...

    Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

One pathetic aspect is you can only see that last five transactions on the website. Surely it wouldn't have killed the programmer to show all transactions from the last statement (as with Amex) or just all transactions (CBA).

Qantas FF booking but operated by Jetstar

I've always had a meal or snack of PER-MEL. When the midnight flight was Qantas it included breakfast.

Qantas FF booking but operated by Jetstar

I fell for this trap last year on a domestic flight. My fault -- but never again. The flight before this one the midnight flight PER-MEL was Qantas but last year I found to my disgust it was now a Jetstar flight. Not only did it depart an hour late but I paid Qantas FF points for Jetstar...

Modified applause -- I used 96% of my limit the day I received the card and didn't hear anything. It was a card-not-present transaction too. I paid this off the same day and it took 4 days for the payment to hit. Rather poor processing time.

    Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

Correct. Mrs Plinge and I have been in Flybuys from the outset. I've never had anything out of it and the only 'reward' Mrs Plinge gets is barely sufficient points to cover her annual personal credit card fee. I wish I could persuade Mrs Plinge to do the weekly main shop at Woolworths but she...

    Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

Four days is pathetic. I guess I'm spoilt with Commonwealth Netbank - payments show up instantly. I know what Mrs Plinge has spent before she gets home with the shopping.

    Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

My payments have been accepted OK although after two days they haven't shown up on the card site (typical delay - Amex is the same). Biller code was 17574. After making those payments I got an email from EDR saying the biller code was 017574. Don't know if the leading zero makes a...

    AMEX not accepted or surcharge

I run a business (8 employees) that accepts credit card payments via MYOB M-Powered Invoices. I don't surcharge. The reasons is the cost of the surcharge is more than offset by the saving in staff time going to the bank - they can add more value dealing with new clients, and me tracing...

Re tax deductibility of card fees: According to the ATO in most circumstances they are -- ATO on card fees

    Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

My card arrived today -- that took a month. I activated it over the phone in a few minutes -- no need to go to Woolworths for me anyway. Good to see Bpay accounts can be done from the website. Credit limit is about what I expected. The card is marked as 'Platinum'.

    AMEX not accepted or surcharge

Whatever. In June I flew to New York business class and return premium economy thanks to my Amex points. Next June I'm off to the UK, premium economy, booked and paid for on Amex points. It's early days but for 2012 Hong Kong and Tokyo are looking good. I don't mind if merchants charge...

    AMEX not accepted or surcharge

The trap there is that if the cost of earning points is tax deductible then the benefit would be taxable. I can't see the ATO letting you have your cake and eat it.

Really? Next time I want some DVD or a TV I'll buy gift cards firsts then buy the goods with those.

    AMEX not accepted or surcharge

Concur. In the flush of enthusiasm when I first got my Amex card I reported some business for not accepting or surcharging. The AMEX responses were just banal boilerplate. It was clear nothing was going to change - and it didn't.

    Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

The missus, occupation 'home duties', did all the shopping. In those day your little woman stopped work at about 6 month pregnant and didn't work again until the kids were in high school. Not arguing for a return to those times but that's how it was. House prices, &c, were such that you could...

Sadly, you will never see Aldi and Costco in Perth. They have stated on the record they will not open in the west until trading hours are liberalised. 1980s trading hours are anti-business and, more importantly, anti-consumer.

Comm Bank to issue AMEX... changes to QF/Velocity point earning

Concur -- that's my plan. And when I've had the card 11 months I'm cancelling it. In fact I'd cancel it now if there was a pro-rata refund of the fee.

Comm Bank to issue AMEX... changes to QF/Velocity point earning

I've had similar difficulties with CBA -- neither the local branch or the inquiry line was 100% sure of their facts; more like 75%. As a result I signed up for cards that don't suit me. Oh well, live and learn. The conversation rate is 2 CBA points for 1 QFF point. It doesn't matter whether...

Thanks for that -- pretty pathetic performance really. Oh well, I can wait I guess.
