    IHG (Amex) Credit Card surcharges.

Unfortunately some businesses have a short term view of charging for credit cards fees. Do they honestly think that customers will pay by cash? And if so, would they want us to pay them thousands of dollars for the rooms. They could easily have a staff steal under the till or get robbed and the...

Virgin to offer Complimentary Food and Beverage MEL-SYD-BNE

Do we really need to eat on a 90 minute flight? Is it any wonder why the western world is overweight. Just water would be fine for me. Flight attendents will have difficult rolling out the food to everyone in time and then collecting the waste.

Supermarket fuel discounts capped at 4c per litre

Big supermarkets didnt get rich by agreeing to something against their interests. You can easily work around the new law by offering the 4c off more frequently. Eg on $15 spend, get 4c off. Or 4c off fuel when you buy $1 bread :)

Qantas Business Class - No meal for Row 3

This is a perfect case study for customer service training. So many things went wrong, one thing snowballs into major problem. Its a culture any company need to develop from day 1, that customers need to be treated like you would like to be treated. Very simple but easily forgotten when you have...

BIG loyalty costs 5MYR annually. Points do expire after 2 years. You can generally redeem flights cheaply from kuala lumpur to neighbouring countries for a few thousand big points, or use them on cheap 3* hotels. Its a low cost reward program from an LCC. A flight return from SYD to KL should...

    Getting an Amex Platinum Edge

Start with gold (free annual fee) and you will find they upgrade in a few months if you spend well. You will find that many smaller places dont accept amex, so your spending of $1000-$1200, maybe only half of it can be put on Amex. For your spending, the rewards would be outweighed by cost of...

Foreign Purchases - AMEX VS. CITI

Just a bonus for citi customers when dining at nice restaurants/shops they offer 10-20% off the bill. Sometimes Citibank customers also get a "rebate" (more like a discount) off their purchase. That's my experience in Malaysia. I'm a citi signature user. Had problems before with Amex blocking my...
