    Madness: Last QF9 A380, First QF10 B787

I just looked up QF9 on Flightradar: surprised to see VH-ZND is over Hoboken: on closer inspection that is the suburb of Antwerp, not New York. The total estimated flight time PER-LHR is 16h53m for 14,498km.

    Asiana Airlines - any advice?

I flew Business class with Asiana Sydney-Seoul-Paris and London-Seoul-Sydney. There was a one-night stopover at the carrier's expense on the outward journey, but I was offered no choice of hotel. It turned out to be in the centre of Seoul, a long bus trip away from the (magnificent) airport...

VS Drop SYD - Exit Australia

Re: Virgin Atlantic no longer fly to Sydney I have used VFC points (some earned on other carriers) for VA domestic flights to and from Hobart, but I did like the 346 used on the Sydney-Hong Kong route. and will be sad to see VS go. Even the economy seats are almost bearable!

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

When I found my bags had not travelled with me to Heathrow T5, I decided to stay overnight near the airport. I chose the Holiday Inn Express T5, but found it was located miles away in Slough. I was also caught by the hotel phone scam, being charged GBP3.00 per minute for the (I'd thought free)...

    Worth the upgrade?

I'd take the QF487 at 20:00 which (at least on the random day I chose) is a 763, and book two seats in a window/aisle pair. You won't need an upgrade, and would not have much time to enjoy the lounge what with re-checking bags at the far end of the International Terminal and bussing round to...

LHR Arrivals lounge in T3? Any other tips?

There are regular National Express coaches from the Heathrow Central Coach terminal ( a 5-minute trundle from T3) to Bournemouth. The 09:15 one arrives 11:35, and there is one every 90 minutes, according to National Express Coaches // Coach & Bus Travel Throughout The UK

    HNL-SFO/OAK Options

There's plenty of seats on the (random Mar/Apr) dates I tried - it may be tougher at weekends. Or pay an extra 7k points and go via LAX.

    Did Tiger drop MEL-SIN?

For some time now, Tiger's only flight to Singapore from Australia has been from Perth. Since these are operated by the Singapore company with Singapore-registered aircraft, and the airline does not accept through bookings, as you discovered, flights from and to Perth do not connect.

Advice re AA vs QFF using CCs and One World question

One of the AAdvantage disadvantages is the fee for issuing tickets. Two one-ways, London to Copenhagen, cost us a total of 20k miles, "tax" was $132.20, and fees $120. I got $124.38 back on cancellation. At least they didn't charge another $120 fee!

    Ever missed a flight unintentionally?

My wife and I had a difficult time recently. after three weeks in Canada, we were checking in at Montreal for a Swiss flight to London via Zurich when we realised our passports were missing. The following evening's flight was full, and we were rebooked direct on Air Canada as replacement...

    Round the World Suggestions Wanted

If you are going to more than one place in Canada, Oneworld is not the complete solution as they have only international flights there. I used the internal Canadian airline Westjet for flights within Canada. Also within the USA, American Airlines (part of Oneworld) does not always have the...

Article: As Airfares Fall, Save Even After Buying

After checking various sites for the best fare, I recently purchased one-way tickets on the Canadian airline Westjet. A few days afterwards, I found a sale on Westjet fares on their website. I had to telephone them to change: there was a transaction fee of CAD50.00, but I kept the...

Seven weeks on a DONE4 plus a cruise with hand luggage only.

ROV? Rostov-on-Don? My most unfavourite airport in Russia! Memories of there being no wheelchair for my wife, of being forced to stay overnight at a truly, truly dreadful Soviet-era airport hotel, of being woken at midnight by AK47-bearing military police to check that we were not trying to...
