Does anyone know what time Qantas check-in opens at LHR? I'm flying QF2 and will likely arrive at the airport around 2ish. Will need to have a checked bag and would rather spend the time waiting in a lounge.

Qantas says on their website "Airport check-in opens 4 hours before the first Qantas international flight and closes 1 hour before departure." Does this mean they open for Qf10 in the morning and then stay open all day till QF2 departs in the evening? Whilst it reads like this I'm not convinced that they will be there all day. Does anyone have any practical experience?

Cheers

Last time I was there check in staff disappear after QF10 is done and arrive back and start getting set up about 3.30pm - you might be lucky and get checked in shortly afterwards but I think they officially open at 3.55pm four hours before takeoff.

Although… I have turned up having done online checkin and bag drop has been available.

I arrived before the check-in desks were staffed with a colleague whose online check-in failed and told to see an agent at the airport. Fortunately there was an agent roaming around the bag drop area who was able to sort him out, so you should be fine regardless of arrival time.

Every time I’ve been there for QF2 they have been open at 4hrs but not before.

Yeah it’s a bit pot luck - if you are online checked in and have no baggage then obviously you can stroll on through. But if you have check in bags then you are reliant on a gate agent or rep wandering around for bag drop - and I think you have to be online checked in already as I’m not sure they can do everything. And Heathrow T3 is a wasteland nothing to do but watch the world go by…..
