End of an era just transfered over 1.3 million points, now i have to make sure to use up the krisflyer points before they expire.

Is there also a thread on the best usage of the krisflyer points.

I was wondering if its to use them to get
a) business class
b) economy class
c) buy economy class by paying cash and then using the points to upgrade to business?

Absolutely, without a doubt, a - business class award seats.

Most business class awards cost less than double the miles required for economy, and J availability is very good with KrisFlyer. To upgrade from economy to business using miles, you have to buy an expensive fare and then you still pay almost as many miles as you would for an outright reward seat - plus, the availability is exactly the same.

There was a webinar earlier in the year which was really good.

Something I learnt was that there's a sweet spot using KF points to book Europe <> Middle East / North Africa (UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Iran, etc) for 25K points in J.

Bearing in mind you have just "saved" yourself over 100K KrisFlyer points you could splurge on an F or R trip preferably out of Singapore so you could experience the Private Room. Just a suggestion. Not to mention the Krug.

I have never understood all these alphabet terms for different seats :), i used to think people were misspelling then i realised it was some abbreviated term for a type of seat class. Still seems like theres so many. A webinar would have been interesting. I think J is business class.. so maybe F is first class.

Switched to Auto-redemption this morning. I will keep it that way until I receive my December statement and then cancel it as the VA=>SQ devaluation comes in after that on 1 January.

With Singapore Air the only ones you need to consider are J (business) F (first) & R (suites in the A380s). all well worth the experience.

I just picked up on this yesterday and had a mild coronary as I wasn't aware of the conversion rate change and had 7mil altitude points up for a 33% deval (unless putting to QF). It seems I wasn't the only one though as I called Altitude and told them they hadn't made me aware of the changes (apparently they have to give 30 days notice), and they rolled over pretty easily. Let me do a one off transfer at the old rate so I rolled most of it into Velocity and kept some in reserve for QF. Hope that helps anyone in the same position. Never trust a bank I guess

I think that you were fortunate as I believe that there was some notice given even if it was a bit tucked away on an earlier statement. I can't remember exactly where I first read about it but I'm sure it wasn't from Westpac themselves.

With a $300m + fine out of the royal commission for bad behaviour why not cover your losses with.....more bad behaviour. Banks are a breed on their own
