The Bloody Red Baron - 100 years on

I noticed this story in the news this morning.

100 years ago today, Baron Manfred von Richthofen was shot down and killed.

Now they're asking "who dun it"!

Personally, I always thought it was Snoopy!

FWIW our next door neighbour when I was child was Bob Riddell who served in WW1 and was close by when the Red Barron went down. I don't have much in the way of details other than I know he was one of the Aussie soldiers who recovered his body and had to guard it. After the war Bob received a military honour from the French President. He was a train driver for many years after the war and lived to be over 100 YO.

Very interesting. My recall of the display at Omaka was that the soldiers stripped all his clothes and gear.. the implication was that it was all a bit tacky.
