Looks like QF like using the old configuration to LAX - should have checked expert flyer when I booked my ticket but grabbed it in the recent sale --I had the old one in June and now can see both ways LAX-SYD and SYD -LAX in October-certainly on my dates
Thank you for your advice.
I called right on 7am EST and this time Hobart answered the call----it was a different experience.
The agent confirmed U space -and the upgrade - in a couple of minutes
I booked a domestic itinerary after checking for upgrades on expert flyer but 2 flights (MEL--CNS via BNE ) did not clear -although still available in business for points,
I called -and after 1 hour on hold -I did not get anywhere with one of the offshore call centers
Is this a common issue...
Thanks for the offer but still unsure of my dates

I used to travel back to Australia twice per year to visit lots of family----some of whom are now elderly ---as old...
I received an e-mail that my June trip is cancelled and I received an e-mail stating I shall get a credit note.
It is an international ticket so it is quite a lot of money
Unfortunately I booked the ticket during the double status credit promotion so reluctant to push for a refund at this...
Interesting with all the recent A380 mechanical issues.......today not long after leaving SYD on QF7---one of the forward business class bathrooms had a "sink" issue so was locked up so passengers could not use it whilst crew seemed to be OK with using it.......so a full plane with around 70...
