Re: Gadgets allowed on take off and landing in the US
Dupe thread -> http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/travel-news/faa-relax-rules-gadgets-flight-51543.html
About bloody time! This way I don't have to buy a magazine to read for the times on take off and landing (below/above 10,000 feet). If everyone moved to e-readers/tablets I wouldn't have people spreading out across the seats with their broad sheets. Just wish it had been the case when I was...
Thanks all - already planning a J flight to Fiji next year with the family, then there is the trip to the US via tokyo in 2015 for wife's 40th and the motorcycle ride from NY to the San Diego Comic Con for my 50th (in a few years!) to plan ;)
Well back again if only briefly. After four months without work (including weeks spent prepping the house for sale and an overseas vacation) - today I started my new job at [insert company here]! Great on some levels (income is good) but the downside for me (on some levels) is there is zero...
Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)
Spoke to Brunel on Friday - "larger" car will be supplied with no indication of an extra charge :)
At DXB I will see if my parents have landed and will see if we can travel together - otherwise they will just get a cab.
QF Chauffeur drive - multiple pax and luggage
Hi all
Does anyone have recent experience with the QF chauffeur drive with multiple pax and luggage? We are flying SYD-DXB-SYD in J and have two adults and a four year old. The official rules are two bags per car but you can also order one car...
No luck with the last one - had an interview yesterday. Planning to sell the house, rent for a while and get stuff together so the week we get back from DXB/LCA I will be moving us and clearing down the house - I am pretty exhausted at the moment.
Absolutely exhausted! New garden path at the house, three car loads of rubbish sent to the tip, experimental cooking happening and 900 comics have been sorted (about 3000 to go :(). Quiet time in the [insert profession here] recruiting market so some challenging life decisions to make but...
Darn - I have been waiting for your Sep/Oct schedule for some time - looks like you wont be steering my flights on 16 Sep (SYD-DXB) and 5 Oct (DXB-SYD). Hopefully the pilot will be accommodating with a request for the small boy to see the coughpit at the end of the flight...
Just in case anyone was wondering since being made redundant I don't think I have ever been as busy - mostly with jobs around the house. With a distinct lack of travel there hasn't been much to share either. I will be back at some point.
Cheers and happy travels.

The one flaw I see with this trip is the limited status credit earn routing direct to LHR via DXB. I am planning an alternate routing for those interested - SYD-MEL-HKG-HEL-TXL and finally to BRU. There is generally a fairly easy passage into France via Belgium and the locals supply some...
