QF No Longer Printing FF Number on Boarding Passes

Last weeks travel on the same PNR: QF405 Syd-Mel - No FF# shown on BP QF79 - MEL-NRT - No FF# shown on BP QF4024 / JL711 NRT-SIN - FF# shown on JAL issues BP QF2 - Sin-Syd - FF# show on BP Trying not to think about this too hard but could this change be an Australian only change as a result of...

    Ask The Pilot

More FYI than a question. QF2 SIN-SYD (11 October Departure) landed into Sydney this morning flown by Captain Richard Woodward. During the taxi back to the terminal the FO congratulated the Captain on his retirement from a 47 year flying career across both the RAAF (14 years) and Qantas (33...

    Ask The Pilot

Over the past 14 months I’ve been doing the Syd-Hnd, Mel-Nrt, Bne-Nrt and vv on a 2 weekly basis. The tracks appear to be either a few degrees W of N or a few degrees E of N. Assuming odds and evens applies does this mean an aircraft will need to climb / descend as required to ensure compliance...

QF No Longer Printing FF Number on Boarding Passes

For those of us who prefer the printed boarding pass I noticed this week that QF are no longer printing the FF number on the boarding pass. Instead of QFxxxxxxx it simply displays QF. I presume this is to get around any privacy issues and potential risks to compromising FF accounts...

    LTP - the $1,500,000 reality

The pitch QF give you during the ‘welcome to LTP call’ seems to be aimed at someone who had been a P1/P and dropped back to Lifetime Gold somewhere along the way. The sell is you now have access to QF Platinum / OWE benefits for life. For those who are currently P1 / P it doesn’t generate too...

    LTP - the $1,500,000 reality

Looks like QF have started the process of connecting with the new LTP members. Received the call today. Basically they said congratulations you get the benefits of platinum for life. A welcome pack and new card will be shipped out early 2020. They did say as a P1 I could continue using my...

    Bird strike

I seem to recall a number of years back where a QF744 out of LAX heading to BNE had a head on with a Canadian Snow Goose at around FL200. The bird hit the radome causing enough damage where it took out various bits and pieces forcing the flight to return to LAX.

    Ask The Pilot

Was originally scheduled on the Sunday 8th Sept QF25 744 service from SYD-HND. 8hrs before the scheduled departure at 2050 received the SMS to say the flight had been delayed to Monday 9th September at 1230. The delay was due to Typhoon Faxai which made landfall near Chiba (close to Narita) at...

    Ask The Pilot

Back in 1991 there was an accident off the coast of East Sale with a RAAF 707 from 33 SQN Richmond getting itself into a VMCA loss of control scenario at too low an altitude to recover resulting in loss of five lives.

    Platinum One experiences?

You're assuming the aircraft is parked at a "C" gate. Dependent on arrival time into SIN the A380's may get allocated a "D" gate. The new F Lounge being nearby the DNATA lounge will put you closer to the "D" gates than the current QF lounge.

Marriott hack hits 500 million Starwood guests

I continue to ask Bonvoy how, when and what happened. They continue to provide the canned response which is along line of "we take security seriously and continue to investigate... In the meantime please ensure you change your passwords on your Bonvoy account and your email account". The lack of...

Marriott hack hits 500 million Starwood guests

I came to the Bonvoy program by virtue of being with SPG for 15+ years / 1580+ nights and no issues with my SPG account being hacked. Since being part of Bonvoy I've been hacked twice in the last 3 months. On the first occasion I noticed my account had been locked for audit after 505,000 points...

    Ambassador treatment

I have 1580 nights and have been with SPG / Bonvoy for 15 years. From an Australian perspective the program under SPG was mediocre at best with the Singapore based team helping out every now and then. The program under Bonvoy is non existent.

    Ask The Pilot

A couple of questions: Over the last 20+ yrs of flying as a passenger most of the sectors, apart from a few, can reasonably boring. Some of the landmarks / events make what would be just another flight a little more significant: - the old QF9 MEL-SIN sector, dependent on the track used and...
