    Platinum One experiences?

71 times around the world 2.8674m kms 890 flights From 2011 - 2021 this would be a reasonably accurate set of QF member logged flights. Understand this period maps to the 10 years of P1. Given QF track distance and # of flights it would have been a nice bonus to do a QF lifetime set of numbers...

    Ask The Pilot

QF14 - EZE - DRW with a total flight time of around 17hrs 45min.... Besides the Antartica seasonal flights I'm guessing this would probably be close to the most southern flights done by QF for sometime. I've done EZE-SYD on the 744's a few times and was always interested how, given ETOPS...

    Ask The Pilot

What considerations need to be taken into account when flying an aircraft that typically cruises at a typical FL310-FL410 at a much lower level of say 9,000ft. Earlier this week the QF737 that sustained hull damage from a baggage tug vs plane encounter flew for Perth - Sydney at 9,000ft for...

Retro Roo damaged on the Tarmac at PER

Heard today the damaged 737 flew at 9,000ft (non pressurised) arriving back in Sydney 6+hrs later. Not quite as costly as the Emirates A340 that had a tail strike departing Melbourne back in March 2009. Ended up having to be ferried from Melbourne to Airbus in Toulouse via Perth, Singapore...

How long until you get to LTP? (Or are you already there ^_~)

I don't anticipate QF service levels will differentiate between Platinums and Lifetime Platinums. Having the benefit of QF Platinum / Oneworld Emerald for as long as I'm able to get on a plane should be good so long as QF maintain the current Platinum service levels.

How long until you get to LTP? (Or are you already there ^_~)

fortunate enough to have received LTP from Day 1. Now have 106,389 Lifetime SC’s with little or no flying since Q1 2020. Similar to previous commentary my guess is that QF will continue to attract and retain frequent flyers by reviewing and implementing status keeper promotions until both...

    What's your favourite 747 memory?

@jb747 Of those 2581 747 pilots / 500 of those 747 command pilots would the majority of those been Boeing only and/or 747/767/707/737 only drivers from their first to their last day having gone from FE and/or SO to FO to Command? Reason I ask is that I connected with Greg Fitzgerald a few weeks...

    What's your favourite 747 memory?

The next QF flight over Antartica was a charter flight run by Croydon Travel on Sunday 26th November 1995 - 2 days short of the 16th anniversary of the Erebus disaster. While it was cool to spend 3.5hrs-4hrs over the ice the novelty did wear off after a while. Since those days I've been lucky...

    Tales from the Air

While the Wessex was a relatively old helicopter the details around Op BURSA illustrates the roles it could take on... JB where you ever involved in these operations? Bass Strait oil-rig counter terrorism operations | The Australian Naval Institute

    Tales from the Air

JB 747 - from memory you spent some observer time in the Wessex and Sea Kings before the A-4's. Did you ever make a precautionary emergency landing during your helo time? I did some digging around and found a Wessex from 817 Sqdn in 1975 with S/LEUT's Condon, Smith and S/LEUT Bartles RAN made a...

Qantas 747 joy flight out of Canberra

I think you may find the ACT government has imposed a restriction on venues to a maximum of 100 patrons per indoor space or outdoor space, or one patron per 4 square metres, whichever is lesser.

    What's your favourite 747 memory?

Back in 1995 flying MEL-SIN-LHR on the QF9 747 service. Was flying upstairs in J and ran into the Captain on the flight and he invited me to the flight deck about 2hrs out of LHR. FO ran me through the fun bits of the FMC. Amongst many other things I was surprised to see such a big difference...

    What's your favourite 747 memory?

January 1974 - QF731 747-200 EBA - Syd-Sin-Kul-Bah-Fco-Lhr as a 10 year old it was my first ever flight. August 1974 - QF2 Lhr-Ams-Bah-Sin, Sin-Syd. Indelible memories included the tubed headsets that rubbed your ears red raw. Lots of cigarette smoke in the cabin. Movies included: Blazing...
