Hard to understand why they need a technical stop on 27/12 yet it’s been a direct non-stop service since 14/12?

Hi all, We’re on VA113 from Adelaide to Denpasar on 27/12. It was sold as a direct flight and has been since the service started on 14/12. I’ve just been advised our flight is stopping in DRE on the way up. Anyone know why? Merry Xmas all.
