Seems good. Would you or anyone happened to have paid council rates or water rates with them? If so, I may bank a few more as couple of months to go until they're due.

I paid rates, water, phone/internet, mobile bill at the PO on Saturday. I picked a slow time and the teller was happy for me to split the payment. According to my mobile provider and phone/internet provider there will be about a $2 fee to pay this way. Not sure yet if that will be per $88 card, or transaction (as they went through as a single transaction, but split payment). Even if it ends up being per card, I will still be well in front, as I was able to source them at 10% off.

The water and rates went through without any additional charge, so I can certainly recommend these two.

Great first post Camz.

Just to share some ways of using up gc's.
I picked up an Auspost Load&Go and put 10 gc's onto it ($880 less the $6.95). The day after I went to an ATM and withdrew $250, apparently you can do this once per week. I paid an ATM fee of $2, I really need to find an ATM where I can withdraw for free (if anyone knows). The balance I intend to pay to a bill where eftpos either isn't accepted at Auspost or there is a fee per payment (Telstra/Optus). Next week I intend to reload the card rinse and repeat, maybe multiple cards next week.
I also paid an Energy Australia bill via self service at Auspost. According to my bill the fee is per bill not per payment, but I am sceptical so I may wait for my next bill to be sure.
Finally I managed to exchange 5 x gc's for a Coles Myer Group gc. The manager at my local Coles was a bit dubious but agreed to try it at the till and it worked. I had something I needed to buy at Officeworks anyway.

Hope this helps someone. I am working my way through 173 cards so keen to share all ideas :)

Thanks,

I have spent the first few days of membership trying to read this thread:mrgreen:, some great information being shared.

There's 2 types of load and go cards. The one meant for travel doesn't have the $250 withdrawal limit. You can withdraw at westpac atm without an atm fee but still a $2 card fee.
Aus post will quickly lock your card if you do this though, when they see lots of deposits in from dif accounts and then withdrawn.

Hmm, this looked really promising until I saw there is a minimum single load amount of $100 (link). I wonder if this means you can't load the $88 gc's or whether you can as long as the balance is above $100 when you try.
If they do work then you could load up to $5k and then withdraw over 2 days ($2500/day limit) before they realise and lock your card.

Thanks for the info! I pay my other utilities through AMEX normally but cos I used the 5% off eGifts it might be worth switching it up. If there is a $2 charge per transaction, you'd still come up a little ahead probably. I've also never paid at the PO so will have to figure what times are best too.

Where did you source them at 10% off?

Do not use auspost load and go, they are terrible from experience of my old cash From loophole I did many years ago

Did you load up at the counter? The self serve machines stopped working for me a few months ago so I thought they blocked these eftpos cards.

Just tried to pay some bills at the local PO (which I'm on very good terms with the guy who runs it) and was told they received a memo to say "do not accept gift cards as a payment form for bills, period." He said they didn't give a reason and he thinks it's silly, but that was the directive.

I hope it is still working at self serve checkout. I think its time to use those gift cards asap!

They stopped it due to possible fraud and money laundering. Most likely caused by so many people using them at the same time over the weekend!

This is exactly like the whole Westfield XS fiasco!

There is absolutely no need to panic. People suggesting these cards aren't widely accepted are not correct.

These Perfect Gift cards have been around for sometime. I've purchased them over several years. They are EFTPOS cards and can be used at many locations.

99.9% of the time I've never had a problem using one of these cards.

I suggest people calm down and be thankful for the savings that they have/will make.
