I haven't followed the thread very well. But we're in town until 30 April, don't arrive until 23 April
If you want to brunch at Four seasons let me know, otherwise we can join up for a drink later somewhere? We fly to Ephesus on the 27th.

Happy to brunch with anyone - I didn't think anyone was in Istanbul on the 26th?

Missed it by that much :( We're going to be in IST on the 26th however, our flight departs for LHR early afternoon.

Will probably do the Brunch on the 19th ... enjoy!

Amaroo that restaurant looks amazing! I'll be in Istanbul by myself April 27-29, would love to go for dinner somewhere special before I start the long trek home (even if it will be a solo one).

Ooh, may I please have a list of the dinner restaurants? I'm finding it hard to get amped about this trip and do lots of research, keep fast forwarding to my Maldives and 10 week snowboarding trip!

Our passes have arrived, very flash!

Both my hubby's and my passes arrived today, agree they are very flash, already put in a safe place! As we both were successful in the ballot, was happy to see we were both allocated C1 for Lone Pine.
Cant wait leaving next week:D

Has anyone attending Turkey decided on any vaccinations (typhoid etc...) before going to Gallipoli.
We are fully vaccinated due to previous trips to South America, Central America and Africa,( and also working for NSW health!) however I don't see any problem having hep A, typhoid and making sure your regular immunisations are up to date as well ( tetanus, measles mumps etc) as a general precaution for wherever, whenever you travel. Lots also seem to like the flu shot as well.
I recommend going to a travel doctor or even just reading the CDC guidelines from the US.

General advice only- everyone who can afford it should be hep a and b immunised, simple and lifelong.
Typhoid every 3 years, I recommend to everyone travelling regardless of destination.
DTPa boosters- tetanus within 5 years, get the pertussis (the P) if you have young kids, grandkids or are generally around children and not had within 10 yrs.
MMR, meningococcals- talk with a GP or travel doc.

Flu shot is out 21st April, if you can rush in and get it.

Just had my Hep A&B + Typhoid shots finished, all up about $200 at the local GP and i got sore shoulders for free:cool:
Dr said that should be enough given we arent going to too many remote sites for long periods of time.

As a bonus i can now eat all the frozen berries i want

Thanks, appointment made and going to Dr this afternoon.

I've never got shots before going overseas (to Cambodia, Vietnam, South Africa, Thailand), but I should be able to get the flu shot before I leave.

And does anyone know what the letter/number combo on the pass means?

Seating for the Lone Pine service. They sent out (months ago) a photo of the stands for Lone Pine - the stand number is your seating area.

I (personally) would NOT get 'the Flu shot' on the 21 / 22 April - if you are planning on being out 'in the cold' for ANZAC Day Dawn Service ...

It's a risk, that it will 'make you sick' ...

The prolonged cold air will add to the effect ...

Further, the vaccine is not an 'instant' preventative measure. It depends on each individual's metabolism and your current 'state of health', as to how long it will take to provide the anticipated 'coverage' ...

Many people report 'flu-like symptoms' during THE WEEK after receiving the vaccine.

... AND, there are the 'rare' cases of 'sudden death' ( but that's rare, and relates to the individual etc. Ask your GP to be 'truthful' about the risks of this vaccine ... )

Reported deaths are mostly of those in 'residential aged care' ...

Me ? I won't be getting it ( this year or ever again ). I got 'sick' from it once ... only once ....
