To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

I also once got downgrade F-J however I do not count it. It was in 2017, points upgrade J-F LAX-MEL, from memory QF7 had been struck lighting so on the day I was due to travel QF8 did not run. I have assumed that the QF8 F pax had been moved to LAX to go either LAX-SYD, LAX-MEL. I cannot complain all the points were returned and my original J seat was reinstated.

Great Experience flying Honolulu back to Sydney on Saturday. Ground staff at check in offered a special welcome and thanked me for my loyalty. Just as they were about to close the door Hnl customer service came on board with a card and some choc coated macadamias. CSM onboard came by for a chat and presented me a thank you card. All in all wasn't expecting any of this but was appreciated. Was a great flight and most likely my final time on a Qantas 747 in a row 5 single seat.

I flew LHR-SIN-SYD this week. I got the impression that new strategies are being tried to improve service, but the execution was mixed.

LHR was 50/50 - the car driver had been given an "urgent instruction" by QF to ring the First host 10 minutes out, and he tried unsuccessfully about six times. I kept telling him not to worry, as they would just come out with a trolley. He persisted anyway, and when he finally got through, the host snapped at him on speakerphone as if he was an imposition on her busy day, when he was just following his instructions! A different host arrived to collect me, who was much more civil, She offered to walk me to the lounge, book me a table downstairs, etc., which I deflected, as there's no way I would voluntarily hang out in the QF lounge at LHR! But it's the first time I've been offered a table booking at LHR.

SIN was excellent as usual, even though it was the busy early evening. The new space that used to be left luggage was open, but there were still lots of people around. A number of the staff had printouts of the "special" pax, to ensure we didn't get lost I guess, and kept asking if we wanted anything and what we wanted to do next. It sounds silly, but with so many people in the lounge, it may be the best way not to lose people and ensure that there are enough seats available. They sat me in the CL area, which was quite empty. And the First host who walked me to the lounge and back gave me her business card in case I needed anything in the future. She also said that there will be a "surprise" in the new F lounge, as in a positive surprise, not an enhancement. :) But she couldn't say what it was. Given QF's tendency to over-promise, I'm intrigued by what they would have held back from the PR about the lounge ...

Oh oh oh oh oh let me guess let me guess...

"As part of Qantas's ongoing commitment to your comfort and wellness, we will be opening a new First Class lounge in Singapore which is a solid 5-minute walk from the existing lounge, and at least 750m from your departure gate. The additional time you spend walking to your gate will allow our most important passengers to stretch their legs and sneak in a bit of extra exercise between flights to burn off all the champagne-calories consumed in the lounge."

Much more relaistic to say: spend 5 minutes walking on the spectacularly garish 1980s carpet in the Singapore terminal and if your stomach isn't completely turned off by these colours then let our NP inspired menu do that instead.

You're assuming the aircraft is parked at a "C" gate. Dependent on arrival time into SIN the A380's may get allocated a "D" gate. The new F Lounge being nearby the DNATA lounge will put you closer to the "D" gates than the current QF lounge.

I'd prefer a spa.

Second flight as P1 (on QF - I do fly other airlines :)) and didn't expect anything beyond the Y seat paid for (locking in first row of economy was great) but got the card and effusive thanks for the flying I do from the CSM.

I only managed one of those in my times as a P1 and that was because it was my birthday! It definitely is a nice touch

Edit: looks like it’s a whole collection. Looking at mine I noticed that it has a 1/7 and the 1920 date is in bold. Wonder if anyone here has gotten the full set

I was given a full set by a lazy CSM who couldn't be bothered using them for their real purpose.

I've received one, the daughter got one for her birthday a few weeks ago.

P1 for 2yrs now and yet to receive a card. Perhaps I need to stay awake during my flights :p

no card in my 5 years. First 3 flights of my new membership year last few days and zero anything. Not that I really mind.. just bog standard domestic flights (in J) so.. same old same old.

I thought my last flight was a candidate for op-up or my 2nd ever P1-up. Was very full with a few empty seats in business class even on day of flight. But no. Business flew full and I couldn't help noticing 3 passengers with CL tags.
