To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

it must be about time soon for another useless Briefing though.... I can't wait!

Was thinking the same.

Only recent QF flight was last night NRT-BNE. The staff in the J cabin were actually really good all-round, so although no noticeable "touches" for me, was happy with the flight.

But next week I get to fly Y domestically then PE across to Chile - will be interesting to assess that.

Flew over the long weekend. Zero note of status (not that I care much).

Anyway I clocked over the 3600 today and my first thought? "Oh No. Sendle"

I am not sure if that says it all or not.

I’ve flown at least 15 times since becoming P1. All in Business. Still listening to crickets.

GPH gets all the attention........chocolates!

Wow, that's poor.

My last QF flight was (by pure chance) sitting next to a former colleague who is a CL (wish I'd run into her in the terminal a couple of hours earlier!). Full J, MEL-CBR but the CSM made a point of introducing himself, thanking us both by name, shaking hands and making the offer. Quick, professional but genuine. Have to think it was the CL factor but nicely done.

I'm going to fall a few hundred SC short this year unless something odd happens (or I've miscalculated a couple of DSC advance-booked flights later in my year). At this time, I have no desire for any SC runs and am enjoying a bit of VA and VA/SQ travel.

Really looking forward to the next P1 Briefing though....

That isn't good and has certainly not been my experience. All but my latest ADL-MEL return have had a welcome or a longer chat if in J. That last ADL-MEL return was a shocker though; utterly disinterested CSM on both flights in terms of service and interaction with all pax, so much so that I had to mention it on my 'How Was Qantas?' feedback survey (yes, I nominated to receive a survey for each QF flight)

Same CSM?

Well, we had a big enough occassion last week to finally crack open the Christmas gifts from '16 & '17 only to discover it was the exact same drop inside both cases.

Bit of a let down considering the taste wasn't anywhere near the RRP associated with them.

I still have the last couple of years P1 bubbly saved - but will get there :)

Flew BNE-SYD-SCL yesterday, on a "premium economy" ticket - ie the BNE-SYD leg in economy. It wasn't until I was boarding in BNE that I realised I was bumped up to J for that leg. I assume it was because of P1 status, but if they don't make a fanfare how would one know?

Not unhappy.

re the Christmas gifts... the Taittinger Comtes I find pretty nice. Would I pay the $300odd or whatever the going rate is? No, but it's not a bad drop. I did not mind getting a 2nd helping last year (eventually :D . I've not opened yet, probably wait till later this year when I have a reason to.. and assuming Sendle's "care" hasn't completely destroyed it, I quite look foward to it, as the last bottle was lovely.

each to their own I guess.

And which drop was that?

I got Taittinger Comtes 2006, thought it was very good.

Not uncommon to get last minute gate upgrade as P1. Sometimes they do it when already onboard.

Really? Cool. How does it work?

Approached by the flight attendant who says discretely, "We have a more comfortable seat for you Sir/Madam. Would you like to gather your carry on luggage and follow me?"

This ^ and also when entering the plane the CSM may scratch your ridiculously high seat number and write a much lower one on your BP ;)
