Yeah It's not the Star Alliance fare, it's a special Lufthansa one that allows travel on partner airlines (QF,SIN,NZ,etc) however travel to/from Europe must be with LH and to FRA or MUC. A return flight is then allowed within Europe. It was very popular with bestflights.com.au back in the day...
