Qantas Travel Money changing to Qantas Pay - May 2024

Does anyone know how long it takes for points for using this card are credited to your QFF account?

    Qantas A380 at Gatwick

I think that was to do with the LIV golf tournament in Adelaide over the weekend. Back on topic. I was tracking QF1 on Monday and noticed another Qantas A380 not far behind. Was curious what it was doing, but yeah looks like a charter.

    Qantas App issues?

Good news - I'm still me. But with a trip coming up, I hope I'm not appearing on someone else's app.

Article: What to Expect Flying QF1 from Sydney to London via Singapore

I'm flying on QF1 next month - just the SYD-SIN leg (to tick the A380 off the bucket list), and I notice that there's a lot of slack in the schedule. I've seen on FR24 that the flight can leave SYD up to an hour late and still get into SIN either on time or early

Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre (Chinatown) opening April 2024

After the reviews on here, and elsewhere, plus the fact when we were ready to book the price shot up, we've opted to stay where we are

Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre (Chinatown) opening April 2024

I'm heading to Singapore in May and have booked into the V Hotel Bencoolen for now. I was contemplating switching to here (with my $50 Qantas Points Club voucher and a $100 cashback offer for Qantas Hotels through Amex it will be comparably priced). It is worth switching, depending on how...

    Qantas bus gates in Sydney

Only time I've ever got a remote stand at SYD was a JQ flight late on a Friday night that had come in from ADL (as in we landed at a remote stand at T2). Was a slower disembarkment than normal (as you'd expect when landing at a remote stand) but not exactly the end of the world. Plus it meant...

Amex via ApplePay rejected by POS terminals

Besides a couple of places looking like they'll take Amex but don't (ie the Amex logo appears on the EFTPOS screen, but the transaction declines), I don't have any major issues with Amex being accepted where it's meant to be accepted. The one big exception is Adelaide Oval. Their old, manned...

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

Same with mine. The credit was applied almost instantly. Funnily enough the actual charge for the flight took a few days to land so there was that awkward few days where my credit card was technically overpaid by $450 :D

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

I’ve booked on this flight from SIN-SYD later this year. As an av geek, looking forward to flying on something that wouldn’t normally venture to Australia. Also seems to be a habit that I pick the wet-leased planes for recent Qantas flights. My last Qantas flights were ADL-BNE return on the...

What's up with Amex referral offers/system?

Looks like the current Qantas Ultimate card is bucking this trend - I've been offered 40,000 QFF points (and the person applying 100,000 QFF points) with their current offer. My partner took up the offer the other day, and the bonus points have already landed, ready to go on the next transfer,

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

Looks like the Amex prices for flights are way out whack with what QF are charging again. I'm planning a trip to Singapore later this year, and was planning to use the $450 travel credit for one of the flights. One option I was looking at (ADL-SYD-SIN, with the SYD-SIN leg on QF1), is...

    Travel plans 2024

For me, I'm going overseas for the first time since I was 11 (and, therefore, first time voluntarily :D) There is a link between that trip many decades ago and the upcoming trip in that I'm going to Singapore, which was a stopover on our journey back as a kid. I think that 5 hours in Changi...

New Ability to Purchase Single-Visit Lounge Passes

Emphasis on sweet (from the observation some were loading sweets into their bags Uncle Frank style) :D I'll see myself out

New Ability to Purchase Single-Visit Lounge Passes

To be honest, I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner, given Virgin have been offering paid access to their lounges pretty much since they started operating lounges way back in the Virgin Blue days.

Article: Qantas Bans Filming People On Flights Without Consent

I thought this was always the case. I was on the farewell 747-400 flight from ADL in 2019 (not officially a farewell flight but it was the last QF 747 flights from ADL), and the cabin manager repeatedly acknowledged that there was a high number of av geeks on board while reminding passengers...

    Qantas is sorry (again)

Have Vodafone recovered from this? I was with 3 when Vodafone acquired them, so I got caught up in Vodafail, and I'm still reluctant to return to them (and I left them in 2013). Having said that, I was on Vodafone's wholesale network for a couple of months in 2021 (through iiNet). While I...

Amex Qantas Ultimate reduce earn rate after 100k points

I got the same email too. Given I'll get nowhere near 100,000 points (in normal spend) per year, it doesn't really affect me, and it's still one of the better points earning cards out there.

How to get the card faster?

When I got my QF Ultimate card earlier this year, I got the card in 3 days.

    New CommBank "Smart Awards" card

I've noticed CommBank have doubled their fee to opt in to QFF points (from $30/year to $60/year). Given my CommBank Awards card is a secondary card (for places that don't accept Amex), it seems hardly worth converting the points when the card renews and it might be time for a churn.
