After completing my 6 week Europe trip, I can confirm that excluding my middle name did not effect check in at all. Emirates didn't mention anything, even budget airline such as Vueling didn't care.

Thanks tom, definitely not looking to travel or transit through Hong Kong anytime soon or the foreseeable future. My trip will proceed no matter what! I can't wait to get out of Australia for a bit.

yep, they cancelled my flight! Luckily there was still some availability around those dates for classic rewards economy. Have to first fly to Madrid instead of Barcelona. A shame, as it was going to be my partners first flight in Business.

Ideally I would like to book the tickets with my points and I will only have enough once refunded. Obviously that would be dependent on Reward booking availability. Otherwise I'll just have to purchase an overpriced one way ticket unfortunately.

Flight was redeemed using QFF. So I guess I'll need to wait until the flight is officially cancelled and see where to go from there

Yep, definitely not an ideal situation. I have to wait until the end of this month before the June schedule comes out. Won't know my next move until then and my flight is on the 7th of June 🥲

Think I'll definitely have to rebook once Cathay cancels my scheduled bookings. Will be a pain since I won't be notified until end of this month when they release the June schedule. Do people know how quick points are refunded when a flight is cancelled? I assume since it's not a Qantas...

That is reassuring! I did book online, my flights are Qantas Classic Reward redemptions. After this I am considering removing my middle name from my passport and all other documentation.
