EU "re-routing to your final destination at the earliest opportunity" following cancellation

thanks folks. No of course it's not their fault, the French love a good strike (fun fact, the French used to call strikes "la maladie anglaise!"). I wasn't after compensation, just a way to get to Doha by two days later. They sell tickets for every day but don't fly direct all days, the Iberia...

EU "re-routing to your final destination at the earliest opportunity" following cancellation

oh, they also helpfully told me they had a flight from Barcelona at the same time tomorrow. I pointed out that Barcelona and Toulouse are in different countries, they said something about within five hundred miles. On that screenshot above the first flight, the TLS-MAD with Iberia then MAD-DOH...

EU "re-routing to your final destination at the earliest opportunity" following cancellation

hi folks, I have an economy multi-city ticket with Qatar TLS (Toulouse in France) to DOH for tomorrow, then DOH to SYD on Sunday. The flight tomorrow has just been cancelled due to an air traffic controller strike in France. Qatar are saying their next available flight is on the 28th, which...

Article: Not All Economy Class Products Are the Same

that's really handy thanks, I've never even considered Scoot before because of the legroom. IFE doesn't bother me much either way, half the time I'm doing work (on a laptop, which you can't do in a cramped seat) and air travel is one of the chances I get to actually read a real book

Article: Not All Economy Class Products Are the Same

A great one not mentioned yet is KLM's "Economy Comfort". Similar to Etihad's "Economy Plus", it's not Premium Economy, just normal Economy with a lot more legroom. 10cm more, which if you're 6'3" like me makes the world of difference. And for not a lot more money - iirc, was the same as an...

Article: How to Stop Airlines Losing Your Checked Baggage

Fair cop they could find them if they were looking for them, what I meant was that they can't detect them with the normal security scanning. They'd have to be looking specifically for AirTags.

Article: How to Stop Airlines Losing Your Checked Baggage

Airtags are fantastic. Philippine Airlines lost my suitcase last year, transiting through NAIA airport in Manila. If you've been through NAIA this won't come as much surprise. While NAIA is chaos, PAL's customer service is excellent. I contacted them through their Whatsapp support chat, was...

Article: How to Stop Airlines Losing Your Checked Baggage

I'm not sure this is the case. Do you have a current source? From what I have read JAL did have a "no lithium batteries" - think power banks & such - which included "tracking devices" with Lithium batteries, but their baggage regulations no longer mention this last part, at least not that I...

Article: Should Airlines Rebook Sick Passengers for Free?

For those saying "that's what TI is for" or "why would they fly if sick?", I don't know of any TI policies that cover you if you choose not to fly because you are sick and don't want to infect others. They only cover you if you are assessed as being medically unfit to fly, which is not the same...

    Etihad cabin baggage in Y

Had no problem in the end. My cabin bag ended up 8.something, with a kilo of powerbanks stuffed in my jacket pockets. My checked luggage was only 17kg. Based I'd say on that, the staff member at check-in glanced at my cabin bag, which is a rather nice SwissGear well within the size limits, and...

    Etihad cabin baggage in Y

Thank you for that @IrishPete. Was their policy one bag & one personal item, or one bag only?

    Etihad cabin baggage in Y

So I have an upcoming Y flight from Sydney to France, ticketed with Air France, but the first leg SYD-AUH is with Etihad. Air France/KLM has a 12kg cabin baggage allowance, for one bag and one personal item, but I believe I'll be subject to the Etihad allowance as the principal carrier, which...

Article: Why Airlines Love European Business Class

Slight tangent but a good hack. On KLM's "Cityhopper" planes, which are all Embraers, the seats are the same in economy & business but business has a lot more legroom, 84cm vs. 79cm. Business Class is rows 1 to 6. However... at weekends when there is no demand for business class, or as far as...

Qantas Says COVID Credits Are Refundable

Extended but nothing about refunds. Not sure I can face the call centre to pursue my $147.55.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

I use my ING debit card only for overseas ATM withdrawals, and only where there will be a local bank fee charged. Macquarie debit card for everything else as while Macquarie don't charge overseas transaction or withdrawal fees, they don't refund overseas operator fees. I opened the ING...

Article: Europe Doesn’t Recognise Australian Vaccination Certificates

I previously wrote "Luca is the official German government app" but I'm editing as may be wrong on that. I'm not sure if if's really third-party or just outsourced third party. It's the only one I saw wherever I went in Germany though. I converted my Oz vaccination certificate to a French one...

Article: International Airlines Not Returning to Brisbane

I would very strongly advise against booking an international multi-city fare with Qantas at the moment. Based on my experience having done so recently, if there is any change to any part of your itinerary, because it is a multi-city fare you are not given the option to accept the changes...

Article: Europe Doesn’t Recognise Australian Vaccination Certificates

Yes, the French vaccination pass gets you into anywhere across Europe. Same for the Swiss or the Irish.

Article: Europe Doesn’t Recognise Australian Vaccination Certificates

I'm afraid if you do go through the thread, you will hear otherwise. Your Australian international certificate will get you through border control but no further.
