Thanks to all. Some good info in there and it looks like a small amount of cash could be an option but not necessary. Like many others, when I'm home I never carry cash so I may look to do similar in the US. Maybe I will take a small amount with me initially and then tap from there.

According to the E-Ticket the Alaskan Airlines flight is AS1399 and the AA is AA143. Flightaware shows the American Airlines as an Airbus A321 whereas the Alaskan aircraft type just says 32Q. Does that detail help?
