Off to the USA and Canada. I am a type one and need 4-6 shots per day of insulin and this is something that I think I need to get for my insulin kit for sure. Off to the apple shop this weekend. I travel a lot domestically as well and with the insanity of baggage of late its a solid investment

No more free items from retail menu when flying business

While you are at it google the difference between Type One (nothing you did to get it and nothing you can do to prevent it) and much more serious. Kills more people than Breast cancer, lung cancer and Aids put together (source: WHO). No cure just a minimum of 4 jabs per day and it is zero fun...

Hertz or Europcar for Velocity status match?

I rather Hertz mainly because the velocity points always come through without prompting. I am a Presidents circle and like the dedicated line that gets you out faster of there is an issue and the just go to the board and grab the car at other places. In the USA I was upgraded from a Chevy...

Accomodation for Cancelled Qantas Link Flights due to Weather

I was delayed in SYD with Jetstar 2 years ago and they wanted to bump me to a 6.15 am the next day and put me into Avalon not Tullamarine (where my car was) and shuttle me out to homebush for my accom which they would pay for. I was on a day run so had no toiletries, change of undegarments or...

What is the attraction of lounges?

on VA domestic as both Gold and WP I have received lounge access on arrival with a boarding pass, card, smile and a quick "hi I just need to use a clean toilet please" and the angels let me in. I always make sure to thank them on the way out. Love the VA angels.

Qantas orders six more 787s, plans to retire all 747s by 2020

My first ever international Flight was on a 747. I loved it. It was huge for me as a kid I remember thinking that if all the seats were taken out we could play cricket in there.

What is the attraction of lounges?

Yep the Adelaide lounge is not awesome but have found that the team are super helpful and that makes up for it a bit. The new Perth lounge (well 2 years) is very good. Best I have been to was Etihad in Paris. Full ala carte restaurant, proper champagne (from a place I had done a tour of just...

Property left on board. Any chance to find?

Over Easter Mrs Cult Of One and I flew to Perth and she left her iPad in seat pocket. Called VA baggage service next day, they asked a few identifying questions (colour of cover and face colour of bezel) and confirmed that they had it. I gave them a time I would be there and it was waiting and...

the currency changes; Credit card everything and away you go. The smartphone helps to convert and have a basic formula in your head. I find a standard thing like the cost of a beer, coffee, gum and when I see something that is 1,000 whatevers I just say in my head is that worth the equivalent of...

    Comfy dress vs Acceptable dress

I always wear jeans on long haul flights. I am not a Tracky Dack person and have not owned a pair for 35 years. So for me jeans (I keep wallet and passport in pocket for security) and a Tshirt with a hoodie over the top as I like the whole layers thing. Slip on shoes that I can put on/off hands...

VA LAX Catering Debacle November 2017

I had to be moved because of an obese pair of travelers taking around 30% of my seat on VA once there was only one spare seat on the plane and the FA's were giggling when I came up to them as soon as the seatbelt sign went off. They said that they saw the couple getting on and thought that the...

VA LAX Catering Debacle November 2017

As a person who travels this route with family living in Miami area this scares the hell out of me. Aaaaarrrggghhhh - flying!!! Had enough/over it! [Cuddles for Juddles!]

I hear you my friend. I have leveled back. and feel OK about a status drop. I pulled 1500 SC's on Virgin in 9 months flying economy only and almost all of that domestic had QF flights as well. More time at hotels than home and as many family dinners face to face as on face-time. Travel is...
