Totally agree. I sat directly behind YX on that flight to and from LHR via HKG and saw all you mention in the cabin. Except, the Ys won sneaking into empty YX seats! There's no way I would pay for it / use my points, despite how well the YXs were looked after by the crew.

It is very close between Etihad and VA / VS, as you say. AUH First Lounge was outrageously good, especially when coming off as a Y passenger and having your kids whisked away to chicken nuggets, ice cream, computer games, toys and a dedicated nanny in a sound-proofed haven of child goodies...

I saw that too in the latest Accelerate email I got this week. That would be very welcome if they do, as the two VS lounge options looked pretty decent (he says only having been at their reception desks!).

Good advice, @Austman. Definitely lesson learned. I'm not a frequent flyer internationally (twice a year in comparison to 20 - 40 flights domestically). And when I am flying internationally, it's Singapore Airlines or Etihad. I just assumed that the lounge accesses would be on a par with them...
