My golf game has never been that good - but the event and the 200 guest dinner in the Chateau Tanunda barrel room is a savage affair. Just put it on the bucket-list (as opposed to the basket-pressed-list)

Opened one of the 2010 Magnums the other day. Bit early but the occasion was there and drank it with the guy who gave it to me. Excellent wine, just that the magnum wasn't big enough.....

Howdy all. Long-time-no-post but thought I'd ask if anyone is playing in the Rockford Black Magnum this year?

Holly is a champion - no doubt - and interested to see the pictures. Often though the appearance of the cork doesn't indicate a "corked" wine. The little article in this link What Exactly is a Corked Wine: And What Does Corked Wine Taste Like? | Kitchn is as good a description of...

Rockford is excellent at such replacement. I'd let the winery know via email and check if it needs to be returned (unlikely) and then pick up a replacement next time you are there. Don't spag bol it - it'll wreck the bol. Once confirmed that it doesn't need to be replaced then empty in compost...

Me too. I also go the free shipping route when it's on - or buying for the group we often have over the 3 dozen which makes it free. Nice to have for the quick boom on short supply wines. Re the various discussions a week or so back on the Kilikanoons - I found the Shiraz marginal (against...

Wow - pricey I think at $175. I had a 2007 last week which is drinking really, really well. I know they go for longer but I think 10 years brings them to a great drinking window so time to start knocking the corks out of them....

Howdy - here's menus from a few I have done over the years. They are excellent affairs. Mostly, at the end of them, I leave a bit tired and emotional......... Would happily keep non-Stonewallers in mind for future ones if anyone's keen and let me know. Can't think of a better way to meet mof_s -...

You're probably right for the Hoffman - and the Flaxman fruit is going to the David Powell (formerly Torbreck) wine, similarly priced.

I don't worry too much about differences year to year. It's good wine at reasonable price (even for the BP and SVS) and I love the business model/relationship building of Robert O'Callaghan. Buy it and you'll get the pleasure of talking about it when you do a vertical tasting at some stage in...

    Rockfords discussion

Apparently the former Torbreck owner/maker David Powell has bought a vineyard in Barossa that used to produce one of the Rockford SVS (Flaxman probably) and Basket-press and is selling the stuff at $hundreds per bottle quite successfully. I know part of this is marketing - but the fruit comes...

Hi blackcat20 - I had a few brokers over a year or two and have been dealing with Nicci for a while now (on 03 90210341) who has looked after me pretty well. Doesn't hassle me and calls when stuff I have an alert on comes in.

Thanks RedBigot (I've been sooo tempted over time to call you BigRed). I've quite enjoyed a few different Lane wines and I would expect you have had at least a previous vintage at some stage. Do you have views? Seems like quality at a mid-20s price?

Howdy - haven't dropped in on this discussion for ages but noting the desire for BP. I'm a Stonewaller along with a few friends, one of whom has sadly given up the vino for some time. Very poor judgement in my view. Anyway - I shall check whether he wants all of his allocation when the...

I didn't have the cabernet but did get the matching shiraz which I found quite nice drinking with reasonable structure and some good tannins. I'll try to leave half of the dozen for another 18 months and it'll be much better then.

On our second bottle of the 2013 since it arrived a couple of days ago. Surprised me - good mouthfeel, nice fruit and some fine tannins that make it really nice drinking.
