"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Based on comments in another thread it sounds like a case of phantom award availability on LA805. Guess I'll stick with the QF flights for now.

    LATAM to fly MEL-SCL

Interesting, thanks for clarifying that. Guess I'll stick with the QF booking.

No you're correct - MEL is the final destination.

I wondered about married segments, but I'm not convinced that's what's going on because A) LA805 has award availability on its own for other dates in Nov 2019 and Feb 2020, and B) LA801 is available on its own in this timeframe. Are you allowed to skip a flight in an OWA itinerary? What...

    LATAM to fly MEL-SCL

I'd been hoping to find 2x award seats in Y on LA805 (SCL-MEL) in Dec 2019 as the last leg of a OneWorld Award ticket, but up until now the QF multi-city tool hasn't been showing any award availability on the LATAM flights between SCL>SYD/MEL during December. As such I had booked on QF28...

Sorry - I should have specified that my booking and searches are all in Y, which means LA805 has award availability in Y in that screenshot. Not looking at the J column.

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Since booking our OWA last week I've been keeping an eye out for any availability opening up on alternative carriers for certain legs; particularly the last one which is currently SCL-SYD-MEL (QF). Sure enough LATAM has released some reward seats on its SCL-MEL (LA805) and SCL-AKL-SYD (801)...

30% off Classic flight reward in Economy (QF, EK, Jetstar)

I'm assuming this discount wouldn't apply to the QF flights on a OneWorld Award ticket?

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Well I've finally booked my OWA for this Aug-Dec after nearly 8 months of research and planning. Wifey and I are doing the following in Y: MEL-SYD-xSIN-LHR (QF) LHR-BCN (surface sector around Europe) BCN-MAD-JFK (IB) JFK-YYZ (AA) YYZ-YYC, YYC-YVR (WS - not on OWA) YVR-SFO (surface sector down...

    Both domestic options (LAX-MIA and SFO-DFW) are on a A321, so no difference there. MIA-SCL is a B777-200 whereas DFW-SCL is a B787.

I know what you mean, but some carriers are doing this now e.g. QF9 from MEL-xPER-LHR where you can clear customs/immigrations in MEL before the domestic leg.

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Some more newbie questions, this time about our USA to Chile sector in November: Would you choose LAX-xMIA-SCL or SFO-xDFW-SCL (both with AA)? I've been warned about trying to get domestic flights from LAX. In either of the above scenarios, would we clear immigration/customs on departure at...

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Yeah that's what I'm doing in the multi-city tool, but they never appear in the results.

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

I could use some advice on the first leg of our OWA booking - what are the best flights to do MEL-LHR in Economy? Option 1: QF9 MEL-xPER-LHR on the 787. Advantages are the new plane, new IFE, decent legroom (I'm 189cm). Disadvantages are the narrower seat and the 17hr flight which could be hell...

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Got those the wrong way around - LA603 is LAX-SCL and LA1 is SCL-PNT. I've done some more digging into LATAM award availability, specifically on LA805 (SCL-MEL) as a test case. Interestingly I've found award availability in Economy on pretty much every day the flight occurs, but only up until...

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

I've been sitting on our OWA plan for a few months waiting for LATAM flights to become available in Dec 2019 - initially they hadn't reached their release window, but now they have and I'm still not seeing any award availability via the Qantas multi-city tool. I'm a Gold FF and am looking for...

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Having done some more research, our trip plan is looking as follows: MEL-PER-LHR (QF) LHR-MAD (Surface sector) MAD-JFK-YYZ (IB, AA) YYZ-ORD-YYC (AA) YYC-LAX (Surface sector) LAX-SCL-PNT (LAN) PNT-SCL-MEL (LAN) My only issue at this point is that PNT (Puerto Natales) doesn't exist in the Qantas...
