In general changes on business class fares should be fee free - just pay the fare difference. Business fares should also be fully refundable if you cancel, you don't have to accept a flight credit.

I did exactly this on a BA flight one time. I had put myself in row 1, boarded early and sat in what I assumed was row 1 of an empty business cabin just to the right of the door. Sat there by myself for about 5 minutes wondering where the staff were before I looked at the seat number and...

WP1 can see 4-5, WP can see 6-7 and SG can see 8+ at time of booking.

QF are clearly moving more and more towards the only real benefit of mid-tier status being lounge access and increased baggage allowance. All the other little niceties of both Gold and WP are gradually being whittled away.
