Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Slightly off-topic - does anyone have any recommendation for a CC replacement that provides best earn rate on overseas spend? I have quite a bit of o/s spend and Explorer (linked to Edge) was perfect at 2ppd - but now useless considering Edge is increasing to 2 ppd from April (but then down to 1...

The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Card!)

The link makes an already great product a fantastic one - from an earn perspective on par/better than the platinum charge (minus Qantas) with no annual earn restrictions and a third of the annual fee. Use the travel credit, and it's effectively free. Worthy replacement for Citi Prestige. P

The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Card!)

Hah, also tried some of those 'tricks' around bonus, but it seems like those days are well and truly over. Got nothing. Didn't bother requesting/arguing.. :) P

The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Card!)

Yeah, still showed as Gateway for the entire time until the switch-over.. Then it just came up with the message to check under Plat Edge card, so no more points posted under Gateway. I don't recall exactly, but pretty certain they just transferred all the existing Gateway points over in the same...

The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Card!)

Did it a few weeks back, one call, no issue. Have a previous Plat Edge. The operator seemed surprised it wasn't linked by default already. Took about a week for them to do. P

    Citi cards - major changes

Cancelled my Citi Prestige after 3-odd years of well-into 6 figure annual spend, full fee paying.. They offered the 50% discount - was almost tempting for the hotel benefits, but not quite enough to justify - and also keep paying for a card I won't use. Also offered free-for-life Simplicity as...

The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Card!)

Re: The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Ca Great, thanks for the responses! Not an option unfortunately - very primitive direct debit setup, can't be paid in halves/in advance... P

The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Card!)

Re: The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Ca Does any one know with this card (or AMEX in general) - if you don't have enough limit to pay a bill, but put your card in credit - will AMEX allow you to use the whole credit, or do they limit it to the actual card spending limit? For example - if my...

    Citi cards - major changes

Ok, so my strategy moving forward (mainly looking at KF/VA points, some CX perhaps): - Cancel Prestige (may reconsider if they offer @ $350 - but $700 I cannot justify, even with my 4/3 hotel use). - AMEX Edge/Explorer combo for local personal / international business spend (where Prestige...

I specifically didn't, but pretty sure they can work it out... P

The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Card!)

Current Plat Edge holder.. applied 1.5 weeks ago via referral link. Received/activated card mid last week. Spent required $1500+ (ATO payment) on Friday. Points (for payment at 0.5) posted Monday morning. As yet, no sign-up bonus. Not holding my breath... P

    Citi cards - major changes

$350 for life a great result, well done! I'm pretty intent on cancelling too (not just threat) - awaiting to see if AMEX can match credit limit for a replacement, but otherwise and coincidentally it's up for renewal in June... At $350 I would probably re-consider. Definitely won't be putting...

    Citi cards - major changes

Pretty disappointing change, given my main use for the card was some big monthly o/s spend... 2.5KF per $1 was amazing - new effective rate is 1.2 if my math is right, hardly worth it.. Unfortunately I need to keep the card with my need for a high limit, which isn't quickly or easily attainable...

FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Yep. You can basically get the cheapest hotels.com rate available, with the 4th night free. These rates are basically comparable to anything most other booking sites offer, or hotel sites direct. Not sure about any BRGs, I don't typically stick to specific hotel chains etc. Just book the hotel...

FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Just made 3 hotel bookings across HK and Japan for July - 3 free nights, total saving approx. $670. Annual fee justified this year.. :) P

FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Not sure if it varies between merchants, but in my experience you DO get the bonus points with an o/s merchant even if you pay in AUD. P

FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Hey guys, Looking to upgrade to a Prestige from my free-for-life Signature. Trying to justify the $700 fee, seems unlikely Citi will do me any favours with respect to that. Not overly interested in the various value-added benefits, however the increased points earn rate IS quite interesting...

Not a lot tempting me to pay the $700 upgrade to prestige from the free-for-life Signature... If they add SPG on the other hand....

FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Would be interested to see if anyone has attempted this or if it is at all possible/simple? (suspect not :-)) To add to this, if they did do it, do you retain your Rewards points from the previous (Signature) card (not Qantas) or would you need to use/transfer them first?
