I have a Canon S95 from a few years back and it is a great little camera. Its newer sibling is the S120 which is a very solid option when looking at its lower price compared to the Sony RX100.

Y+->J does not take precedence over Y->J as far as I know. They see how many seats are free for upgrade in J and then give them to requested upgrades to J from any cabin ranked in order of status. Within each status group the ranking is a bit of a mystery and hotly debated on here.
