I see....one would hope they be prepared in J (and maybe PE) with names at the ready. I do like it when they don't have to glance down at the list of pax names before they address you. Thanks for your thoughts/comments...appreciate it. Nice one, Ben

It IS frustrating when you get the I'm-totally-over-it crew member, isn't it? Get over it or get out, right? Bacon sarnie with brown sauce....so good! Hey, great chatting here...really enjoyed it. Nice one, Ben

I had no idea about the QantasLink/Qantas differences. Although, I did find the fare/service on a SYD-CBR sector last year particularly good...just assumed it was for the pollies. Nice one, Ben

Thanks, TGH...some great examples there of how to make things memorable with very little effort. Agreed, authenticity is the key. And, not-spruiking-about-it is a smart way for suppliers/providers to go about it. Surprise and delight, rather than heighten expectations to unreasonable levels...

    Personalising travel experiences

Thanks, MEL_Traveller...really appreciate your thoughts/comments. Certainly agree with the $$ bit in part. But that was kind of what I was getting at...is there an affordable/sustainable way of heightening a guest's experience without it all being at the super-premium end of the scale. I think...

That's great, Grumpy Old Guy...love it. You're absolutely right on a number of points, particularly around being faux. In trying so hard to provide the line-item premium service experience, it rarely feels genuine, right? And, yes, "above and beyond" should be enough to get you looking to come...

Interesting, themanfromoz. So you're in the "consistency" camp, more than the "surprise me" one. Either way, it's about expectations being met, isn't it? Shame about your work flights. Happy travels, Ben

    Personalising travel experiences

Indeed...massive generalisation here, but my experience has been that staff on Asian carriers focus more on high-quality delivery of a consistent service, rather than spontaneous, personal touches. And, yes! Love the handwritten note on CX...reckon that's a nice touch in an otherwise (excellent...

Yeah, I'm kinda the same. It doesn't have to be much. But when it's genuine and thoughtful, it gets a big tick from me. Appreciate your thoughts, Harevy. Happy travels, Ben

    Personalising travel experiences

Personalisation is, well, it's so hot right now. Working in the travel industry it seems every industry segment, every supplier is trying to operate at the highest standards with consistency of process whilst also trying to be different, to stand out and serve up unique personalised touches...

VS Drop SYD - Exit Australia

Virgin atlantic leaving australia Wondering what the community's thoughts are on Virgin Atlantic's decision to leave our fair shores. As someone who played a part in the airline's Australian arrival, I'm somewhat glum about it. Can't help but feel that things just got a whole lot less...

    Travel etiquette

That's a great Top 5 Etiquette Tips....the seat grab when getting up is the most infuriating for mine. And the old seat-recline chestnut...here are my thoughts: Disarm Doors and Crosscheck: INFLIGHT ETIQUETTE: TO RECLINE OR NOT TO RECLINE Happy travels, everyone!

How much have you flown in 2013?

Goodness, there are some serious flyers here. (Wondering if a few have taken the lying typo in the EDM literally. Yes, yes, just kidding) Love it. Not 100% sure of the miles, but my year looked a bit like this: Disarm Doors and Crosscheck: 2013 - A SINGLE ORBIT Hoping 2014 is equally...
