Paid Upgrades on Departure with UA?

I'm a 1K. I expect the J seats for the new cabin will pretty much be the current F seats. Friends tell me that being offered a transpac J paid upgrade is fairly common, especially mid-week and more like SFO than LAX. I'd call United in Sydney. All my SWUs clear on that route so I've never...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

There's no APEC lane in Adelaide? Mind you, there's only one international flight a day?!

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

Even though the line at SFO (UA terminal) is clearly marked, the last two times I've gone through the agent hasn't known about the card and the most recent time had the agent stating graciously that she "would help me this time" but she's never heard of it. I did point out the lane was clearly...

Express Path - sped up (outbound) immigration/security Screening at Intl airports

I agree, but for some reason APEC BTC cardholders (at least in the UA/NZ terminal at Sydney) don't get Priority security although they do get priority immigration. It makes no sense ... but then, what does these days?

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

Yes PNG is one of the two I'm waiting for - but I've got clearance for Brunei. I'm not sure I'd ever want to go to either

APEC BTC and entry to the US

He offered that I could wait and I could consult with his supervisor when the supervisor turned up (no promises on when that might be)! He certainly wasn't volunteering to put himself out (despite all the signs about how they recognised that this is the first contact visitors may have and all...

APEC BTC and entry to the US

It seems that not all ports (or possibly points of entry within ports) know about the Card. When I entered via the UA terminal at SFO at the end of November the Crew Lane was clearly signposted for APEC BTC clearance. However this morning at the UA terminal at LAX there was no sign-posting...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

I thought this topic had already been done to death a few posts ago, but for those "look-back challenged" you go through the crew lane on the far left, just like in Australia

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

Re: APEC Business Travel Card - Latest experiences For those entering the US from Australia, the APEC Card works well. If you're entering from Canada, however, you are cleared in Canada and there are no APEC lanes there. (Now that the US has recognized the scheme, perhaps the Canadians will...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

my new learnings about the APEC card.

A "lovers" update I've never had a problem exiting Australia with my same-sex partner in the APEC line, so I thought I'd ask (nicely) last time we came in via Melbourne if we could use the APEC lane. "No worries" was the answer, and at the desk we got processed and (eventually) we got asked...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

SFO report Monday 27 November, SFO, 0910. There is no signage as there is in, say, Sydney or Melbourne. However, heading over to the Crew Lane on the far left I eventually could see that the neon sign said "Crew Lane" in big red letters and underneath, scrolling, was the legend "APEC Business...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

At last! The USA Condolezza Rice (does anyone have the recipe?) announced at the APEC meeting in Hanoi that the US would "start to" join the scheme. No date, no details - Remarks at the APEC CEO Summit

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

My experience (after finally locating the area) is less positive. I arrived at 2330. 2 desks were manned (or is that personned?). One of the desks was attending to some riff-raff who were sitting in the chairs and seemed to have a problem with their visas. There were 3 of us in the single...

How much does immigration know about your trips overseas?

I should say the address is never fake, it's just not where I'm going to be. After all, I didn't have a booking, m'lud, and when I turned up there were no rooms available at the price within my budget. As for the rule that Australians must enter on an Australian passport, it's unenforceable

Which countries deemed low risk with Aus quarantine letting you through without XRAY?

I think there may be another factor involved. I always arrive and depart using my APEC BTC. The only time I have ever been x-rayed on arrival (Sydney) is when I flew in from Bangkok. I did ask and the (friendly) reply was "we always x-ray from Thailand". I usually fly in from NZ or the US...
