    Qantas Status Credits Bonus Offers

Hi, Last message unfortunately - I’m now on the A330 - seat 1A - very nice. Have a look at Sydney to Launceston - the flex fare I saw was $374 for 40 SC. So there and back in one day would be 80 SC - still not quite in the budget. If you did that twice you’d only be 15 SC away. Bye.

Boarding soon but I can see sale prices on Perth to Darwin - $209 for 20 SC.

I agree - under the very best circumstances it can be $3 per SC. A good rate is anywhere up to $10 per SC. Imagine you find $100 flights from Perth. Doing 9 return trips would get you there - but a bit tedious. If you’d like 175 SC in the absence of DSC you may need to spend $1750. Recently...

I’m waiting for my flight to Jakarta and am restricted to my iPhone - try Perth to Wellington and then Wellington to Sydney - even with Jetstar. Cheap high SC flights are to Noumea, Jakarta etc. The sweet spot is to book a few months out - but not school holidays.

How many SC do you need and what is your budget? I’d be happy to look for you.

Another angle on this is the benefit of joining Alaskan Air and American AAdvantage - both are free to join. Both allow purchase of miles and both have a rule of 20,000 miles for Qantas Business Class flights between any 2 airports in Australia. AAdvantage requires you to be a member for a month...

Thanks - good to know. The MAS site did ask for my Qantas FF number and the flights do show on the Qantas app.

    Qantas Status Credits Bonus Offers

Yes - all on Qantas. In the first example - Brisbane to Perth vs Wellington to Perth you need to decide how to get to Wellington - it could be any way on any airline - but Qantas would be fine. I live at the Gold Coast so it's convenient to go by Jetstar and get the Jetstar deal which gives...

To continue this theme, and depending on the dates, imagine you want to fly Brisbane to Melbourne in Business Class. The cost would be around $800 for 60 SC. Now if you flew Brisbane to Christchurch (for example) and then Christchurch to Melbourne the cost would be around $1000 for 160 SC.

For the example given by Mike 65, the costs from Melbourne to Singapore are similar to Wellington to Singapore but you get 200 SC as opposed to 120 SC. Another favourite of mine is to take a midweek A330 flight to Jakarta. You land at Terminal 3 and there is an OK hotel in Terminal 2 - have a...

I'm P1, I enjoy flying Business Class and I have spare time. There are a few ways of effectively creating your own double status points flights. This is one example of many - Imagine you want to fly from Brisbane to Perth in Business Class - the cost is $1600 and you gain 80 SC. Now if you fly...

My guess is that the Business lounges are getting too full - the DSC program has been too successful. It might take a year or two for all the Platinum and Platinum One frequent flyers to go back to Gold? At that stage they might do it again??

Cheaper to fly Business that Economy

I'm a Qantas Platinum One member so I just look at Qantas prices and I can make the following observations which may also apply to Virgin. The various departments of Qantas seem to operate independently - so you might have 1) promotions, 2) finance, 3) frequent flyer, 4) overseas offices etc...

    Greetings from a medical locum

Sure is. Yes - John Musgrave. We chatted for a long time one day. He told me about some of the exorbitant rents that some of the owners charged. At my first year Med Ball (at the long since demolished Cloudland) my date was Clare Morgan (who was Clare Keifer then). We were both first year med...

    Greetings from a medical locum

Amazing. The supervising pathologist there was Bev Rowbotham. When it was still a vacant block of land I negotiated with the senior partner - I forget his name. Apparently he developed epigastric pain during his daughter's wedding and was subsequently diagnosed with aggressive gastric cancer. He...

    Greetings from a medical locum

The best investment I ever made was in a pathology lab. It was in the early 1990's and Sullivan and Nicholaides in Brisbane wanted an investor to buy off the plan the lab on the ground floor of the Sandford Jackson building at the Wesley Hospital. I don't know if you know Brisbane but it serves...

    Greetings from a medical locum

He really was. As you would know, his brother, Keith was one of the founders of the RACGP - I met Keith when he did a few locums in Gundy. His practice was in Kingaroy. In the 1980's there were 3 doctors in Gundy looking after the 5000 people in town plus another 10,000 who lived midway to the...

Actually I know the 2 doctors you mention. I bought Garry Shaw's practice in 1988. The actual practice had started just after WW2 and Garry was the 3rd doctor in it. I was the 4th. I built it up to a massive building with 12 doctors - look at Goondiwindi Medical Centre Home - the original...
