OTT "RSA" in the PER lounge

Re: The disgraceful state of the MEL Lounge with no end in sight That was the day he wouldn't give me two bowls of chips. Chips!

Velocity Website Update - Single Sign On for Velocity/Reward Booking sites

Actually, correction - https://www.virginaustralia.com.au is no longer working (despite working when I tried it 15 minutes ago), and redirects to HTTP. That is dodgy.

Velocity Website Update - Single Sign On for Velocity/Reward Booking sites

Very true, but your redirect or other methods to get you to the HTTPS-served form are in themselves almost as vulnerable (a little easier to detect, but not going to set alarm bells off for everyone). The only way to ensure security is to make the choice to go directly to the HTTPS site in the...

    System outage at MEL 19/07

Landed on VA891, 5 minutes before our 23:30 extended curfew. We were told that VA requested and was granted a dispensation the extend to 23:30. Currently taxiing (at 00:04), hopefully to a gate!

    System outage at MEL 19/07

They've called for remaining manual check ins for 891, I figured I'd go to the gate (have had enough to drink for now!), but no sign of movement now. I feel for your predicament, deka2.

    System outage at MEL 19/07

I'm supposed to be on 891 to SYD. I'm getting the feeling I may miss curfew now.

    System outage at MEL 19/07

At MEL at the moment (evening of Friday 19/07), and there seems to be a systems outage preventing access to all check in and boarding operations. Flights are being called one by one for manually processed boarding, with associated delays. Edit: glad I'm in the lounge!

Road traffic congestion into Melbourne Airport

If you're getting dropped off and don't mind the walk, it can often be better to go down APAC Drive, Francis Briggs Road, and Service Road to T4, then walk up to the main terminals from there (not inconvenient if flying VA).

The final Reward Status Credit run

My weekend was made up of MEL-BNE-SYD-MEL on the 29th and MEL-OOL-SYD-MEL on the 30th (Sunday was taken with SWMBO - yay for pooling, yay for the lounge angel getting her into row 3 for her first three ever flights - I did feel a bit bad about sitting a row in front enjoying the J service, but...

Whoops! So... I shouldn't plan a trip there any time soon?

To use staff travel or not????

Well that being the case and given that he still had trouble getting back, I'd guess that being in the B tier could end up being rather painful.

public transport, paying for the privledge of paying in cashless cities.

South-east Queensland has a cash fare option, but it's far from reasonable. By time you've taken even a few trips, it's cost you twice what it would have if you'd got a GoCard. I got caught the first time I visited the Gold Coast - half way through the trip I figured I'd check out GoCard (just...

To use staff travel or not????

A friend of mine flew MEL-LAX and back using the benefit of his dad's staff travel (who has been with QF for many years) a couple of years ago. He had no trouble getting over there, but ended up waiting a week in LA for a flight back, having to go via AKL on separate tickets in the end.

    Eligible Sectors Flown

If airport proximity is important, Coolangatta and Rainbow Bay are lovely, less busy than the guts of the Gold Coast. Though as I'm not much of a swimmer (and even less of a surfer), I'm probably more inclined to rate by the general atmosphere (if that's even the right term for a beach!) of the...

    Eligible Sectors Flown

Assuming she'd be out of SYD, the cheapest fares on offer at the moment are $79 one way to OOL and BNK. $160-odd to get to Gold? Definitely worth it. And hey, why not make it a weekend by the beach. Edit: just noticed that the SC promotion does include eligible sectors (per above posts). That'd...

    Really Skybus?

I think it's because they're concerned with the durability of a printed-at-home ticket. When you buy it from the counter it's printed on normal ticket stock, but they "laminate" it with a clear sticker that does significantly improve the durability.

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Or find some other hungry travellers, form yourself into a family of four, and drive your invisible Fred Flintstone car on through the drive through*. *Tried this in Bendigo after a night on the town. The staff didn't buy it, but the couple in the car in front of us found it so amusing that...
