I just joined AAvantage, but I'm unsure how I go about registering my miles. I'm flying tonight with Etihad. Does it matter that I joined AAvantage after I performed a web check in for my flight? How is the AAvantage system aware of my flight(s)? Thanks

My booking class is U (discounted economy). The AA website says that with this class, I can earn 100% Base Mile using AA Advantage. Does this translate to 1 point per mile? If that's the case, then I am better off signing up with AA.
