Are you Going to use the COVIDsafe App?

I run both. I find the COVID Safe app useful for giving me (mostly) up to date info on restrictions in each state. The state based ones I have used tell me nothing but tell the state what they need to know.

Are you Going to use the COVIDsafe App?

I’m wondering why you call it a “useless thing”?

Are you Going to use the COVIDsafe App?

Yes. It was signed into law the day the app was released by the health minister.

Are you Going to use the COVIDsafe App?

I too thought this might be a way to incentivise the use of the app. However, I think it's an indication of the "good faith" of the government that the new law actually makes this illegal. The app is NOT allowed to be used as a "passport" for this kind of reward. In fact, it is not allowed to be...

Are you Going to use the COVIDsafe App?

Hi nutwood, As I said, I'm no expert in Bluetooth but I know this isn't how Bluetooth works. It won't interfere with your normal use of your phone. I have about 30 Bluetooth devices paired with my phone and, while I can't claim they always work 100% of the time, coach parties have never proven...

Are you Going to use the COVIDsafe App?

Your life sounds much like mine. I don't spend all my time in crowds, but I do pass through airports and sit in lounges, or restaurants, or bars when delayed or any number of things happen to prevent me boarding my crowded plane. As for the distance measuring in the app, my guess would be...

Are you Going to use the COVIDsafe App?

Hi nutwood, Interesting post. Addressing your point 1; I just want to point out to other readers that your lifestyle seems atypical for Australia. Perhaps you don't intend to visit a museum, restaurant, cafe, pub, cinema, theatre, sporting arena, etc. where you might be around other people whom...

Velocity Platinum holder looking to experience another status program

Welcome @narayansmate. I'm guessing you do your flying at the pointy end (3 times a year doesn't usually = platinum status)? :)

Welcome from another newbie. The natives seem (mostly) friendly. 👍🏻

    Greetings from Brisbane

Hi Folks, I've been lurking for a while now but got dragged into a discussion earlier and so think perhaps I should introduce myself. I live in Brisbane but have a head office in Sydney where I have to attend every few weeks. I also travel to see customers in my territory which includes...

    Covid-19 - status pause

Let me start by saying that I agree with most of this. However, I must be missing something that's blindingly obvious to so many folk on here. Why would anyone have any interest in receiving status with an airline if they don't fly? I believe what the OP was asking about was exactly this...

    Covid-19 - status pause

Good point. I believe though that it is not me that is important. It’s my loyalty that matters to the airlines. They couldn’t care less about me personally. They care that my status encourages me to book with them as a first choice. If I change jobs and someone else takes my role then I’ll...

    Covid-19 - status pause

Thanks for the rapid and considered response. I don’t believe the OP was suggesting that somehow QF or VA have a responsibility to give those of us with coronavirus related issues relief. Although this seems to be the time of many posts here. I think the suggestion was that the airlines would...

    Covid-19 - status pause

I’m curious. How would such a response from the airlines disadvantage anyone?

    Covid-19 - status pause

Unless of course you’re in full time employment and have to find other, more time consuming, ways of servicing your customers that doesn’t involve flying. I travel for a reason. I have status because I travel. Therefore I have status for a reason. My weekends are filled with the normal...

    Covid-19 - status pause

Just my 2c, I’m one of those bludgers who travels on the company dime (do people really think that somehow makes us less valuable/worthy? I take the same number of flights as anyone paying for their own tickets to achieve status. I’m just as valuable to the airlines so I don’t see how this is...

Qantas law unto themselves - don't waste your time with ACA complaint

This seems to be clearly a QANTAS failure. First their equipment failed then their backup system (relying on staff knowledge) failed. Finally their customer relations failed. Pretty abysmal really. I don't recall ever flying from Perth on QANTAS but I'm less likely to want to do it after hearing...

VA SQ alliance - what does it mean?

Wow! Thanks guys for the comprehensive info. I’ll check what my flight numbers are. Our corporate travel agent booked it for me and she had all my Velocity info. I’m flying back with the same carriers so even if I don’t have lounge access in Frankfurt I think I’ll have it in Singapore.

VA SQ alliance - what does it mean?

Hi folks, I’m a bit new here and to all this international travel so I’m sorry if this is an obvious question. I’m flying Premium Economy on SQ from Brisbane to Vienna (via Singapore and Frankfurt) this week. I’m a Virgin Australia Gold member. I’m curious what that gets me in terms of lounge...
