I just realised that they did the same with baggage. I bought the starter tickets cos I only wanted carry on. I've just paid for 4 people x $17 x 2 flights = $136. I hate that they can pre-select opt in options that cost you money.

Yep, I did get a refund. But having to ask for a refund is a pain. They know that some people wont bother and just skim money off those people who don't notice. The bit that really gets me is the indiscriminate transfer of my personal information. Thats just wrong.

Good points CKCK. Its unlikely i'll trebble my current travel. At the moment i seem to be doing 4 or so international trips a year for work (Singapore, Hong Kong, US) mainly premium economy and business. An then maybe a dozen or so domestic ones. I think its enough to attain and maintain gold...

Its for the times I do fly internationally for work to be able to use the first class lounge. I hear its great. Its a shame you cant just buy access like the regular Qantas Club which I have (as I'm not gold yet)
