Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

I would be pissed if I lost Business Class. But I must say this has happened to me with Qantas out of Hobart to Melbourne in Feb 2023. We originally booked on a 2pm flight as we fly to Christchurch the next morning. This was then canned and then put on a 12 noon flight which was then canned...

I keep coming up with errors if I search any flights to Doha.

QR withholding award seats from Qantas?

I was searching from late June onwards. But only options always did not include Qatar. They included other airlines but never Qatar. When I have searched before Qatar always were an option on some days

QR withholding award seats from Qantas?

Having been looking at lots of options in July 2023 to Europe and even to Doha and nothing seems to come up in QFF for Qatar Airlines. I wonder if it has effectively ceased its partnership with Qantas considering it will soon align with Virgin Australia

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Sydney is now owned by Super Funds, so will be interesting how they run it. Not doing a great job so far

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

VA might clean up the mess, but if you are one of a few then you may have to wait for the next flight on the following day if you can fit. A number of years ago we got caught up in an Ash cloud saga coming back from SF when the B747 did not fly that day, and therefore UA had over 350 people to...

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

If you are a member of UA FF then you can upgrade using their points. But as far as I am aware they do not do "cash offer" upgrades

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

After a similar experience flying from Hobart to Sydney my wife and I now fly in the day before as a slight delay can cause chaos

You can find seats via Velocity but you can always check both Websites before deciding to transfer points to Krisflyer

Saver Awards to/from Oz appear to have dried up!

I was using the app on my iPhone. I also tried it on my iPad and on a website. All showed the same

Access to International lounge - Virgin short haul

Does anyone know whether I can access any lounges at Sydney International before our flights to Fiji on Virgin Australia. We used to access Etihad lounges when we last went to Fiji (pre Covid). I am Platinum and flying Business Class

Saver Awards to/from Oz appear to have dried up!

Not really that surprising. Why should not Kris Flyer charge at the updated rates when you want to change the date

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

It is ok for supermarkets, but only 0.5FF point on general spend. You can beat 0.5FF point with a lot of cards. I have a Qabtas FF card in my wife’s name which gets 1.25QFF points per$ so most AMEX spend goes on that. I used to buy a lot of vouchers ar Coles but the difference between 1.5FF...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

I have heard that there was a lot of AMEX card cancellations after the devaluing. I kept the Edge because as it is a CPA card (although CPA Australia have cancelled their arrangement with AMEX), I pay the annual fee of $150 and get a $200 credit. However, I only use the AMEX card at Coles...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

I spoke to AMEX today. She was quite clear that unless I had an expensive platinum charge card (cost over $1000 per annum), then I would not get doubling of points full stop. She indicated that if you only have a Platinum Edge card, then no doubling of points even if you have been a aMEX card...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Certainly from April, AMEX will have a lot less spend on their Edge card for all other expenses other than supermarkets and petrol, as the FF per $ reduces to 0.5 per $. You can get better from a bank Visa or Mastercard. The supermarket and petrol will only earn 1.5 points per $, so I wonder...
